hii Anuj...I think u should have a choice in between sony xplod...starting range is alomst 7k for a MP3 as now stereo and cd systems are all outdated....but u shld fix pioneer orginal speakers and tweeters ....if needed sub woofers to give a greater bass effect. There are a bit expensive Alpine, Blaupaunkt and pioneer Mp3 players but its u who should decide which will go best with ur choice and ur car needs.

For Maruti 800 Car, you better go for a locally made Audio System available at Lajpat Rai Market or Karol Bagh with prices ranging between 1500 to 5000 rupees. Why waste much money because you will certainly think about buying a luxurious car in future.

One thing most people dont realize when installing sound equipment is acoustics. The Maruti 800 does not have much padding on the roof so the sound quality of any music system will not be as good as it would be in say a BMW. If you were to add some padding on to the interior roof you would get better sound quality with cheaper equipment then someone who puts the most expensive audio equip without the added padding.

I have a Maruti 800 (since 2001), and I got Alpine installed with Xplode Speakers....Whole system costed 13 K at that time ... The combo is terrific ... and still giving good sound day in and day out. Alpine sound is more hi-fidelity than pioneer etc (which is in my friend's Honda City) . In Delhi Alpine has an exclusive showroom now somewhere in South Ex. Now I am planning to change to some new model of theirs (Alpine) which will have facility of direct feed thru' USB from WMA/MP3 files from PC (I download legally from www.allofmp3.com). For tech products I try to go for companies specific to the product (like Alpine for Car Audio and say Canon/ Nikon for Camera Products) .. These companies concentrate on their products only ..One more info ... I have heard that Blaupunkt is having an exchange scheme ... currently going on which is unheard on car audio as of now ......Anumohan

i myself did quite some research when i went about bying a stereo system for my alto a few months back. as i could gather, all speakers systems come in the grey market, so their reliability is doubtful. i opted for blaupunct oval 300w speakers which are of course of such a brand which does not come in the grey market. their sound is so awesome, as i have enclosed each into wooden custom made casings. i dont even need a sub-woofer for great bass. now, i also opted for a pioneer mp3 player with a 1-uear genuine warranty(go for a warranty, you will be surprised how sensitive these players are). i went in for pioneer because it was the most ergonomically sound and also had a dashing blue animated display. hope it will help.

For a reasonable price, Sony and Pioneer are the good options. I would suggest Sony as I have a Sony Showroom ;-). The models VDX-v2800 and CDX-v5800 are good buys as they have vcd facility too if you want to add a screen later. Speakers and sub woofers depend on your budget and car.
