I have downloaded about 450 photographs from my Digital SLR (Olympus E-500). Of these around 230 photos are not opening.
Some photo-shop programs state "Marker missing" or cannot find marker. The photographs are valuable. What do I do ?

Missing JPEG markers are generally a sign of corrupted data. I have not seen any method of fixing the files. They may be corrupt either on the memory card or on your hard drive.

If the pics are ok on your memory card, you could recover them from there. (If you already re-formated the card, do not use it. Pics can be recovered even after formatting the card, as long as you haven't covered up the pics with new pics.)

Can you view them correctly in Review mode on the camera? Or view them directly from the memory card on computer through a card reader?

If yes, that would mean they are ok on the memory card. So try downloading them again. Or take the memory card to another computer and download there.

Maybe they got corrupted while downloading to computer.
Did you download through a USB cable? Then maybe the cable is bad.

Have you had any other data errors on the computer? Then maybe the hard drive has a problem.

If the pics are corrupted on the memory card, the card is probably bad and should not be used again.

Good Luck

I hope you have not erased the memory card in the camera. If you have not, try to see if you can see the photos in the camera when you review them. If you cant, then in all probablility there s a problem with the card. Use another card for a while.

If you can see them in the review mode, try downloading them again. Ths time download them through a different card reader. That could be one of the problems. I had a problem in using one of my memory cards with a cheaper card reader. I dont use either now.

Try openting you jpg files with a few different softwares. That may help. Try the ones already suggested. Also try XnView from www.xnview.com

i'm rather particular this might in hassle-free terms paintings if -- You initially used THAT digital camera to take the %.. you have not altered the photographs in any way or replaced the report call. you have not set the digital camera to "0" the image count selection while a reminiscence card is bumped off.

Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:
