I am a "Proud-Vietnam-Veteran". I am "Sick-And-Tired" of the "Belly-Aching" now being cried out by our veterans now days. My Brother "Rocky" dies in my arms after stepping on a land-mine on the "Ho-Chi-Min" trail in "68". I took 2 rounds from an enemy AK-47 in the chest trying to carry what was left of him to the rear. Spent 8 months as a P.O.W. after "Hanoi" did their best to keep me alive as a "Propaganda-Tool". I was liberated in the beginning of "69", and still did another tour. And I was not your ordinary "Grunt", I was "Special-Forces" the Armies Elite, Best of the Best. All this being said, why do modern soldiers cry-out when they see someone killed, take another humans life, Suffer a "Minor-wound" For Gods sake people, Men actualy do "Die" in Wars. It's not a poker-game going on over seas as the liberals would think. It's a god-damned place where people die, plain and simple. A small note of closing for our vets. SUCK-IT-UP-TROOP! Behave as you were trained, AN AMERICAN!

Your answer is not an easy one you ask a lot but first lets check. Do you actually know a group of soldiers that are complaining or are you going off of what you see in the media? The media is well aware that the war in Iraq is something that more and more people question our true motives for being over there. I've been to iraq I've seen blood and I've helped to patch up soldiers and I've helped patch up those ignorant fools that shot at us. You are stereo-typing all of us soldiers. Let me say this There are good soldiers and there are bad soldiers. The same now as it was when you were in war. I do believe there has been a large change in the Military I believe it has begun to soften partially because of the need to be 'more sensitive' to soldiers needs and feelings. The are a great many Good soldiers in the military and theres a few bad ones. also you have the development of psychological research and the emerge of "PTSD" post tramatic stress disorder. Now you can do research and access it your self and see if you feel it is a viable aliment. All in all I would have to say part of me also agrees with you accessment I don't blame the soldiers though I think of it more as how they grew up. you have to consider the generation younger then you grew up in peace partially because of your effort. I think the other portion of the issue has to do with the strong reliance of techonology.
I thank you for the service that you did for our country, and I am sorry for your losses.
I am a soldier and I am proud to be one. And I ask merely if you are going to degrade the younger generation of veterans realize that you are speaking about individuals and not about all of us.

You talk like Matt Foley who lives "in a van, down by the river."

But anyhow, you said a lot and you called on my Precious
Savior, so I must answer you with respect and nobility.
First of all, thank you sincerely for all you did in fighting to protect our lives and our lifestyle over here. My Dad (Navy), best friend
(Army), cousin (Marines) and many others are veterans of honor, like you, who served and never complain about it.
I know that people die in wars. What some people are angered
with is not the war itself, but the reasons behind modern wars, many of which as a soldier, you don't necessarily have the luxury
to debate as us civilians do. We couldn't be as we are without
you and Jesus hasn't missed a beat: not a tear, not a scratch,
not a moan that you have felt or grumbled. He is able to
counsel and heal you eternally. Thanks again and know
that the LORD has delivered you thus far for an abundant
life without care or worry. Cast your cares on Him becaue
He cares for you!! And I do to.
Thanks. And thanks for reminding me of Chris Farley, RIP.

I hear ya Top. Without specifics on what got ya riled up, I'll throw this out: What we hear about our soldiers, is usually made public by the news media. By carefull "cherry picking" stressing "this" over "that" they can shape what we percieve to be reality. It rarely IS the actual truth, but what some news editor thinks may get him a pulitzer. You and I know that killing and seeing friends die isn't and should'nt be easy. The tough suck it up, drive on and deal with it without the "pity parade" our media love so dearly. There're weak in every generation of soldier, I just hope ya know, what we see on the tube, is'nt neccessarily what we get in real life.

I'm glad you made it through and made it home safe and you are right, people do complain and I guess some get out and protest, I'm not sure, because where I live they don't do that. The National Guard here in my town got called up to go to Iraq and do their tour and 2 of the guys got killed and I'm here to tell you there was no outrage because everybody knew that it was their job and we showed respect due to them. When they all left for Iraq we all supported them, the town showed up and we seen them off. Because we as Americans are supposed to that!

But war should be the last option so that suffering like yours is rare .. .no first strikes, no preemption against powerless nations . . . war for its own sake simply drains and drags a country down . . . look at what happened to the Soviets, fighting continual wars on all fronts . . .
Remember that our country was founded with the concept that we wouldn't have standing armies, just militias. That's why we have the Second Amendment. We want an end to useless, pointless wars.

Thank you for your service to our country. In this new war as the one in which you served there are political hawks and doves. Some things never change. Does anyone want war? Certainly not. Are we called upon to serve in wars? Yes. Until the Lord returns it will be so. The bible says 'there will be wars and rumors of wars'. Until then we will continue as we have. May God have mercy on all those who protect and serve.

As brave as I'm sure you were in Vietnam, and as brave as our soldiers are now, I don't think that's why there's so much complaining. We're complaining we shouldn't be in the war in the first place. Of course people are going to die in war, but it shouldn't be needlessly. You are right that the trooops should be brave, but we should take care of our brave troops and not send them out to war anytime our President has a beef to pick with someone.

With all due respect I hope you are what you claim you are.
Most Special Forces veterans are quiet professionals who do not boast about their accomplishments at a website like this one.
