I have a friend that has 3 house cats but it smells like a giant kitty litter box because she does not keep the box clean and I think the cats are using the rest of the house to go in because she never cleans the box?

Invite her to your house each time you two want to spend time together and when she finally asks why don't you come to her house, then you can say "I just can't stand the smell of the cat's box." She'll get the hint. Or call the Animal Welfare Dept. as anonymous or Health Dept. She'll get the hint.

Most air fresheners just mix in with the smell,,, light a match and take two or three around the house. Tell her that you know it might be hard to keep a litter box clean for three cats and she might need another one. Scoop away is what I use and it is great! When you tell her she might be angry for a while but she'll get over it soon a find out you were right... it will also make her fell a little better knowing you were there to tell her and so she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of other people, she will also fell cleaner in a clean house. remember... just say it.

Just tell her you're very worried for her. The smell is not only bad for the cats, it's also bad for her. Cat urine has the same properties as ammonia. Help her out with new litter boxes and fresh litter, and offer to help her with the clean-up. Something needs to be done before the neighbors start to complain to the authorities when they can smell it from outside.

Thats awful. You have to tell her. Its not fair on the cats either. They will be toiletting elsewhere cos they wont cope with the stink coming from the litter box. Cats are really clean and really fussy and they dont like smelly toilets! Bit like us! We dont do toilet in dirty bogs! I have one kitty and I used to clean her tray once a week with bleach, but her poops were removed after she had done them. I now have to do her tray every second day as she started to poop in the tub. Im sure she was telling me that she was needing a cleaner toilet! If you smell it bad, whats it like for a cat whose nose is a lot more sensitive than hours. Thats rank. Tell your friend. Before someone else reports her to the RSPCA (in UK) or something similar if in the US! Good luck!

Bring her:
An extra litter box
Litter
Baking Soda
Febreeze Air Effects (or something similar)
After you bring everything inside, tell her you don't intend to be rude, nasty, or intrusive, but... there's a problem w/ the smell. You understand that she probably doesn't notice it the way others do, as she is there all of the time, but...
Just say you brought her some *stuff* to help her out...
In the end she'll appreciate it, even though she may be embarrassed at first.

if she is a good friend and you are close you should be able to sit down and tell her in a very nice and respectful way and then maybe even help her to get her house smelling better by helping her with cleaning the litter boxes and vaccuuming etc. make a nice friends day out of it.

You should tell your friend that you are worried about the health risk of smelling the litter box. This may be a sore subject to tell her, I don't know how to go about it. I would break to her in hints that the box stinks?

well, if u want to tell, then tell! One way to do this might be to say sumthing like, " Having three cats might be a nuisance... how about I clean the litter box for $5 dollars a week?" then later point out what had caused the smell to get better.

I have one friend that has 2 cats and a dog and one bowl of water for all of them. it usually is dry when I go over there so I just go and fill it up and don't say anything. she does notice that I do it.
maybe you should ask her if she wants some help with the litter boxes next time you are over there, bring some air freshener

Just act casually and be like Somthin smells really bad in here. Or when your over and she's in the bath room or somethin spay some frabraze.
