My hair used to be quite thick, long and one length, until I layered it into a 'feathery' look...and cut it shoulder-length about a year ago. It looked good at first but now my layers have grown longer, and I feel like I've got this layered bowl on the top of my head. I only like wear my hair down, and I hardly tie it up. I need advice! what can I do with my hair? should I grow it out? and if so, how long would that take? should I trim the layers? should I grow my fringe out? HELP!!!

sincerely

a 14 year old girl with weird hair.

I could be you. I have the same type of hair, and I used to wear it in a layer style also. I also only wear it down. Layered, my hair was completely unmanagable, it would flip straight out, It sucked. All I could do was grow it out, until it was all the same length. Now at least I can put it in a poney tail, but I still let the bangs and sides hang around my face so I dont feel so 'exposed'. My hair grows fast so it didnt take long. Keeping the split ends trimmed up helps hair to grow faster.

If you can afford to go to a stylist every 6-8 weeks, then the layers will look great. You just have to keep them trimmed. If you don't want to keep up with the appointments, then you need to have your hair cut to one length so that it can grow out a bit more between trimming. Either way, you are lucky to have thick hair. The possibilities for you are endless! Have fun!

If you miss having long, one-length hair, I would just try to grow it out more... maybe trim it so it doesn't look so obviously layered.

The worst part is, once you layer your look it must be kept. In your case, start from scratch and go to the salon and even your hair to one natural length and start over again. If you feel the urge to go layered again, buy extensions for the look cause it's only temporary.

Go back to the style you have and maintain it by getting just a trim every few months.

Don't grow it out. Most long hair looks ratty, dry and unhealthy.

particular to the bangs- merely get ones on your face shape, i in my view think of a layered, jagged or area swept fringe, suits each and every physique! As for the purple, some human beings merely cant. My haird grabs purple, if I dye it a purple based brown it comes up an exceedingly auburn colour. My chum in spite of the undeniable fact that, can dye her hair, and each wash the purple merely save washing out. She provides up. i pick to propose which you deal mutually with your hair with a protein therapy (AU $4 for one in a chemist- its a small purple liquid in a small tube/field- staring on the kind). Then dye your hair purple the next day. Schwarzkopf stay has a purple dye, i think of its stated as Illuminance or Brillance, it has a diamond on the front- it lightens hair and then dyes it in one circulate! I had darkish brown hair, used this boxed dye and went right this moment to a colourful barbie doll purple !! Then i pick to propose which you used a million/2 of the conditioner presented, and bye a Shampoo quite for keeping hair that's dyed purple. with a bit of luck this works for you. Dont wash too usually, I wash each and every 3 days or so. continually situation your hair. If all else fails, and your dye keeps faiding, you will get short-term dyes for approximately AU$5 and that i might do one each and every 2 weeks while the colour is fading, this might save the colour bright and being short-term it does minimum injury on your hair. =)

Cut it all even again.....that will straighten the layers out.....if you let it grow it takes awhile ---but mainly depends on you...everyone is different and their hair grows different at different speeds......

thin it!!! its a little scary but its worth it. I have the same problem and I always count on my sister to use the thinning shears. Straighten it too. You can also have a smoothing treatment done, I had that and it lasts about a year. Iy relaxes your hair. Also use smoothing serum it works for everything. I always count on my straightener though...
