first in reply to the first correspondent-there is no liquid in a plasma tv-its a combination of two gasses (neon and xenon) held in a plasma state-and if your tv does develop symptoms of the kind described then it is a fault with the tv-the life expectancy of most plasmas and lcd's of reputable make can now be put at between 12 and 17 years (provided the tv has been looked after). in answer to your question-below 37" i would opt for an lcd-plasma tv's do not do justice to themselves below this size. but over this and i would go for a plasma as you will find most lcd over 37" quite expensive (and certainly more so than a plasma of similar size). and the picture quality does not come close to plasma at this size. you can also buy lcd and plasma tv's with freeview built-in in the uk.

No question about it, you need to buy a Digital LCD TV HD ready with freeview built in. Plasmas are fine however when they are bust they are bust. They can't be repaired. This is one of the reasons why the extended guarantees are so expensive. Essentially when the plasma breaks down they have to come out and install a new one.

I checked them out yesterday and LCD is definitely the best. However if you are in the UK you have to buy a box with it for 'Freeview' and there's only about 20 channels on it. The assistant, a Friend, said to wait a while because people are delaying buying them until more channels are available and the price drops. The prices vary from £1000 to £2500.

HD ready LCD would be better. I would reccomend either the LG 32 inch or a Samsung.

Go with the vox pop & get yourself LCD, preferably the 32" Samsung LE32R74BD with freeview. Superb bit of kit!
