Most cats still like to bite and play no matter what their age is. What you need to remember is that they eat rodents and other lovely things, so their teeth and claws do have bacterias on them. If the skin is broke, even just a little, and it is still red and puffy, then by all means GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. Have you ever heard of CAT SCRATCH FEVER ? Well here to tell you it is real and very dangerous if not proper takin' care of. So I advise that you go talk to your doctor any way, before it gets to bad.

Good luck to you. And your cat.

How old is the cat? Was he just playing? If so, you need to train him with a paper or can filled with pennies, rattle the noise each time he nips you to stop it..that is a potentially dangerous form of aggressive behavior...I have 7 cats....One was that way, you lovingly bring them out of it. Cats are the outlaws of the animal kingdom..they could be thinking of you as "prey" and just doin what comes natural, but it is not good to encourage or ignore that behaviour.

It's probably not serious if the cat's had its vaccinations. It'll only pose a problem if the skin has been broken and is not healing. In that case consult a doctor.

My Tom does this occassionaly if he is enjoying being petted and I turn and walk away. He might jump on my leg and give a little bite.

I put it down to him getting over excited by the petting.

I tell him off by saying "No" firmly.

depends on how long you've been his owner . If it's a long time, then it's really rude and abnormal. and maybe you should try other technics of Cat Training!
But after all cats aren't good pets try some birds or....adog!!!!

Please give more info. Have you had the cat a long time? Is it unusual for it to bite? Is it declawed? Sometimes cat's that get declawed take up biting. Just make sure it's up-to-date on its rabies vaccinations.
