I don't recommend it, but you could buy in Riverside or San Bernardino County and commute in. Homes there are relatively inexpensive. There are so many downsides, though.

If you want nice neighborhoods within the City of Los Angeles, try the Western San Fernando Valley. There are some cheaper homes there that need to be fixed up. The rest of the Valley faces many of the same problems as other parts of the City, and I doubt that you would like it.

Many of the people that are buying now in Los Angeles can't actually afford their home. Often, they just want to be able to hold on to the property long enough to turn a profit. With the market slowing down, a lot of people are rushing to sell and grab those profits. I’d say we’re very close to a market more favorable to buyers rather than sellers.

The cheapest house for sale in the city of L.A. on realtor.com is $290,000. In my general (and I don't live in Beverly Hills) area, the cheapest listing for a single-family property is $800,000, and the picture makes it look like a shack. Most of the people here are underestimating the current prices. About 7 or 8 years ago, before the prices really took off, I was told by a realtor that if you don't have a 6-figure income, you could forget about ever owning a home on the West Side of L.A. Of course, not everyone lives on the West Side. The younger people I work with are choosing to commute for hours even to rent. I don't know how low-income people manage at all.

It is now difficult to find homes for under $275,000 unless it is an attached home. San Diego real estate prices typically range from the high 200’s and up. High home prices are just one of the costs of living in what may be the world’s best climate. The San Diego real estate market is quite different from other markets of similar climates. Low inventory and high demand characterize the San Diego and Southern California housing market.

wow what prices. and i thought buying a 3 br 2 1/2 bath for 150k was bad lol good luck

I have no clue. Trust fund or inheritance, maybe?
My boyfriend and I wonder the same thing about all the expensive furniture stores we see on Beverly catering to people our age.

I guess we'll have to befriend someone old and rich to get a designer sofa. ;)

In the LA area if you are looking to buy in a decent area; expect to spend $550,000 (starting) for 2 bed 2 bath a pretty big house will cost a "pretty penny" $955,000 a million doesn't go that far...not in San Diego either... : (

appropriate now except you have have been given a certain job, i wouldn't do something that massive, i might wait to work out how issues with the economic equipment are going to circulate. it would merely get rather tough for alot persons and who desires greater costs piled on appropriate now? not me......... yet while i became going to purchase it does not be in San Diego or L.A. . To plenty crime happening there for me. If O.C. stands for Orange County, i might try there....
