Some Kingdom Halls do have windows however,
most of the newer Kingdom Halls don't have windows for the following reasons:
1.) Windows are expensive and we pay for all this on donations alone.
2.) Insurance is cheaper if you don't have windows due to theft
3.)We try to build our Kingdom Halls fast and making window openings takes up valuable time.
Feel free to visit the Kingdom Hall in your area. You will see that it is just a clean, modest, yet beautiful place of worship. I will provide you with a link that describes how Jehovah's Witnesses are organized and what you could expect to see and not to see at the Kingdom Hall.

Actually, some Kingdom Halls do have windows. Others do not have windows because of cost and for the sake of security. Generally, a Kingdom Hall is built without windows in areas which tend toward hate crimes and vandalism against houses of worship.

We invite all interested ones to attend meetings with us at our Kingdom Halls. Just contact your local Kingdom Hall for times.
From the Jehovah's Witnesses Official Web Site:
"Jehovah’s Witnesses hold meetings for worship twice each week. (Hebrews 10:24, 25) At these meetings, which are open to the public, we examine what the Bible says and how we can apply its teachings in our life.
Most of our services include audience participation, much like a classroom discussion. Meetings begin and end with song and prayer.
You don’t have to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to attend our meetings. We invite everyone to come along. Seats are free. No collections are ever taken."

Generally, a Kingdom Hall is built without windows only in areas which tend toward hate crimes and vandalism against houses of worship. Sadly, it seems that the questioner is from such an area, and perhaps even more sad that such religious intolerance occurs worldwide.

Perhaps these anti-Witness bigots fail to understand that their vandalism and persecution actually work to help prove that Jehovah's Witnesses are true Christians.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
All congregation meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses are open to the public.

They're probably embarrassed, as they should be. Knocking on people's doors and always dragging a cute little 4 or 5 year old all dressed up and bored out of their mind along, thinking that using the child will help increase their donations or people will listen to their endless dribble so as not to offend the child. And besides that, just to make sure that the feel they have their foot in the door, the ones that have come to my door have literally stuck their foot inside the door, thinking that I can't just kick it on out after telling them that I'm not interested and am ready to close the door.
IMO, they are child abusers. I never thought about it quite that way before, but when you mention that they are always behind closed doors, that gave me the creeps - especially because it's true.

It's not that we don't want people knowing about our religion, We are well known for going door to door to tell people what we believe.
It's not because we are afraid of the dark, cause we go door to door during the day to tell you what we believe.
There are several reasons,
ease of building, when you build a Kingdom Hall in +/- 80 hours (two week ends) ease to build is important.
less damage from weather (windows are know to leak when it rains)
less damage from vandals
Kingdom Halls are built so that people can comfortably study the bible together.
There are no "plates" passed at the meetings

They like to hide in the dark because any light will cause them to spontaneously combust. Seriously though, I never noticed.

Who cares....maybe they don't want outsiders to see all the nonsense they practice inside those cult sessions.
