this is normal... every child is different... i've known girls that potty trained at 5, and generally speaking boys are more stubborn...4 or 5 years of age is common for boys...1st off do not push him, just love him and be accepting that he isn't ready....2nd do not take his diapers away... he's not ready and I wouldn't even consider that as an option....if his behavior continues I'd keep him in diapers until 5, before I'd start pushing with pull-ups and other means...enjoy your baby while you can, before you know it this issue will be long resolved and you'll realize what a non-ssue it was...

Well I don't know about an actual age. I think it's just different for all kids in general. I know I tried for months to get my son to go potty and he wouldn't have a bar of it. I kept trying every few months from about 18months on. It wasn't until he was 3 and a half that he was interested. Once he started to go he was trained within days. I still never got him to use the potty though. I ended up buying this training seat that fits over the normal toilet. It's got a little step and a rail. He prefered to use this and I actually found it better anyway because taking the seat away was a breeze. Maybe this would work with your son? We also used a sticker chart to encourage him to go. I think it's just a matter of them being ready. Good luck,

well I guess 2-3 but is every ones physiology and emotional readiness. I just have a panflet in front of me abt as my son is 18mo so I would type some of the info that might help u:
-Show him the potty and tell him what it is 4
-tell him to tell u when he needs to go
-take him to the potty when he tells u he has to go
-stay with him while he seats on the potty
-dont make him sit on the potty if he doesn't want to
even if he doesnt go in the potty, tell him u are proud of him, Let him know he can try again later.
-empty dirty diapers into the potty or toilet, this may help him understand what he is supposed to do.
and remember....
-Do not try to toilet train if he is upset
-accidents are common until abt 5 years. Do not punish, shame or blame him
-Children can control their BM before they can control their urine
-children learn to stay dry during the day b4 they learn to stay dry at night
-A child who is already trained may start having accidents if gets upset, this sometimes happens when there is a new baby, just tell him that u understand him.
Good luck! ☺

My son is 3 and has no desire to use the potty at all. Boys are hard to train for some reason. I am guessing 4. I hope to have him potty train completly by the age of 4.

I am a single parent of a son. It wasn't hard for me because I would go pee with him and he learned from me. He was potty trained by 2 years old.
Took a little longer doing #2 though, He did ok but I still had to wipe for him because he'd make a mess. He had that down pat by maybe 3-4 years old.

I have 2 young boys 1 of who is 4 and the other is comin up for 1. Each child is different and will do so when he is ready. My son was day dry by 15 months and out of bed time nappies by 2 but i know plenty of children that are 3 - 4 that are still in nappies. Just encourage him and bear with him and he will get there. Maybe pop into your health centre and see if they have any advice. Good luck

Every child is different but they do say boys are more harder to crack with the potty training id say a good age is between 3-5 before they start school but it can be done sooner with lots of encouragment . good luck
