The only way I can diet is by cutting out fat altogether. I used to be able to eat anything without putting weight on but now as soon as I eat much in the way of fat/sugar, the pounds pile on.

Yes, the older you get, the lower your resting metabolic rate becomes.
So you have to ingest less calories or burn off more calories to maintain your ideal weight.

I think so! Can be a combination of slower metabolism, not being nearly as active as when you were young, and eating more. If you are watching TV instead of playing basketball, the fridge is so much closer!

Welcome to middle age. That happened to me just a few yrs ago.I ate the same foods, and had the same energy level,BUT any kind of sugar,or excess fat my body didn't burn.Its scary to pack on weight like that and not be eating any more than you usually do.
