BTW, the guy who runs the site offers $50,000 if proved wrong.

Jenny, to clarify there isn't a fatwa against the pope. No Muslim leader has called for the killing of the pope. The stupidity shown in your question just goes to show that you are insane.

I would just like to say that the pope has apologised for his comments, and that the Muslim council of Great Britain has said that the pope is a noble man for issuing an apology.

Problem solved!

I did not know about such fatwa. From my modest understanding of my religion Islam, no one to be murdered for insulting any one or religion itself. So, if a fanatic Muslim assasinated the pope, I would be sad as much as if a fanatic christian (lile G. W. Bush) is assasinating my fellow Muslims every where around the globe.
Those who are thretening you are just representing themselves. They might be reacting (wrongly any way) to the long list of hostile writers in this Yahoo answer

Thank you for your question.

First of all as far as I know, no one has issued such a fatwah.

Second of all a fatwah is only an opinion and is not binding on the general muslim population at all.

Third if such a fatwah was issued I would not support it given the facts as I know them at the moment.

The pope is entitled to his opinion and although I disagree with him and with the person he quoted (from the 14th century by the way so who is speaking about the past?), and I think that his premise is intellectually bankrupt, I would rather engage him in debate than anything else.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

I do not support killing of Pope. He is just a human being who can make mistakes..

But I would rather to accept his official broadcast apologizing for his clam. He abused billion of Muslim people. He does not have right to do this..

If Pope started war between Muslims and Christians, yes he should be killed as a enemy of Islam. I am not against to do it myself...

first ..Pope doesnt have to say anything bad about Prophet of God. second that particular POPE is nazist and he should be eliminated since 2nd world war. third he got no more agenda to make himself popular. at last Prophet Jesus is coming down from the first heaven where he is dwelling at the present to planet Earth to become a Moslem and follow the holy Quran because the Bible had being altered and been out dated.

By threatening you they just proved the pope and the byzantine emperor correct about muslims and what they did in their history.
In today's condition, the pope should be given a medal for honesty.

A good question, and I hope to see some reasoned response from the muslims who claim to be moderate and rational.
The only mitigation I can think of is one of comparison - there are plenty of rabid folk calling for the persecution of all muslims in the name of christ - does that mean that all christians think that way?

Thank God I'm an atheist!

No, i dont support anything. Pope speaking anything against either Islam, Allah or any of the 1,24,000 messengers-pbut , wouldnt bother me. why?

1. someone demeaning it doesnt make it a lie or thruth. thruth is what it is -- Islam is peaceful and Islam wouldnt allow unjust killings.

2. each one of us has to die -- be it u/me/Pope/Mullahs/everyone of us. and there will be a Day of Judgement -- where eah one of us will have to answer our Lord individually for every word we utter and every act/deed we comitted. so God is a better Judge than me and He will give each what they deserve.

3. if Pope intentinally did lie about Allah/Islam/Messengers-pbuh/Holy Books -- then may be he isnt a practising christian himself as he forgot this.
God gives the Ninth Commandment in Exodus 20:16: “YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR.”

so i dont support those who want the Pope killed nor do i support the man who is trying to create mischeif in the world.

I support the fatwa about you... we've decided you're blondness is really hurting your brain and you need to become a brunette or maybe go Sinéad

Oh you wanted a real answer. well... i hope your small brain can understand that we as Muslims do not agree with the so called leaders you claim are our leaders. In Islam, there is no central leader like your poop... i mean pope (oops!).

so if someone issues a fatwa, that's their personal opinion and does not represent the general consensus. sorry to disappoint you. did i use too many words? i tried to dumb it down as much as possible. i know you're not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

i like how you use the word "they" in your comments, as if i'm a group of people here. again... a bit dull in the blade catagory.

This is what the prophet was commanded to do and muslims should follow suit.
