Hi!
Actually, it could be none of the above.
Ribeiro could be considered a portughese name (last name, to be more Specific).

It could be considered from the region of Galicia, at the north of Spain. "Gallego" (the language spoken here) is actually very similar to portughese (although galicias would differ). I looked it up online and there is a town called "Ribeiro" precisely in Galicia, Spain.

As it is usual with Spanish names and last names, they usually notate the region of origin of whoever carries it. Ergo, Ribeiro would be, in this case a SPANISH name.

At Brazil there are also multiple conections with the name "Ribeiro". There are towns and municipalities that carry this name (such as Barra do Ribeiro at Rio Grande du Sul), and also people, liek the soccer player Adriano (real name: Adriano Leite Ribeiro).

So... definitely a Spanish name, later asumed (as most of the northern Spanish Laguage) by Portugheses and their american peers, Brazilians.

Goodluck!

Ribeiro is portuguese or Spanish (can be either). It is absolutely not Italian.

I'm a keen Linguist myself & hence the interest in your question.

I'm terribly sorry but I reckon the actual word you're looking for is "Iberia" and NOT the "ribeiro". It is of Spanish origin.

It's an ancient name of the Spanish peninsula, from Greek Iberes meaning, "Celtic people of Spain".
