Regarding of the height of my heel, I look where I'm walking anyway. It doesn't matter if it's snails, slugs, newts, or whatever, I try not to step on them because they serve a purpose.
I recently almost stepped on a little newt that found its way into my living room. I managed to avoid it and then spent 45 minutes trying to catch the silly thing and escort it outside. I don't mind them and I think they're cute, but they would starve in my house. So I'm not sure what the point of your question is. Should I be willing to step on a creature if I was in flats? No. Barefoot in my house? No.
Are you one of those sickos who gets off on on crushing?

Or are you asking, not from the point of view of whether you'd kill snails, but whether you'd be looking to protect your heels from getting snail mush on?
Either which way I wouldn't be crunching on those snails if I could help it.

I look where my feet are stepping wether I'm wearing heels or sneakers.. I don't want to step on snails in the rain, I don't want to step in stray dog poop, I don't want to step on anything that might be gross.. it doesn't matter what's on my feet.

And coming in from LEFT FIELD is this query.
My porch light has not worked in the past year. So I would not be able to see them. I just keep walking and when I hear them crunch I think "YIPPEE" "and another one down and another one down and another one bites the dust". WA HOO!!
They eat my orchids. I regularly put pellets out to kill them pesky little critters.

yes.....that is sick....besides if you step on one your liable to slip due to the snail juice that is going to ooze out of the snail. and then if you fall your just going to land all over them and then you'd just have snail juice and bits of shell all over you. YUMMY!

Of course. You don't want to ruin your shoes. I always look where I'm walking though. I'm a huge klutz. If I don't look down I'll trip.

if it's dark i cant really see where I'm going even if there street lights on
so if i crush them no matter what kind of creature they are I'm clad as hell
you see i fight with them weekly when dealing with my roses in my garden
so by killing them by the side walk i have accomplished to put one more out of his miserable life
