if you stay awake naturally (no substances) then it must be "your day"
whatever troubles you and you take it to bed then pray about it, leave it God's hand's
then you'll find comfort
i know, i've tried it

Yes, here are my tips because I work nights 3 nights a week and then have to sleep away some of my days.
1. Take a shower, the warm water helps relax you.
2. Get one of those lavendar neck pillows, throw it in the microwave for a few minutes and put it on your neck.
3. Slather your feet with good smelling cream and put socks on. 4. Drink some chamomile or sleepytime tea w/honey and lemon and a cookie (I like shortbread).
5. Read a really boring book by dim light, a physiology textbook is my personal choice. Puts me out every time.
6. Buy one of those ion misters or waterfall things that makes a nice pleasant waterfall sound with lights in your room.
7. Or, if light and sound bugs you, use an eye mask and earplugs.
8. Take Melatonin 3mg, get the sublingual kind that melts under your tongue (available at health food stores). It's a natural supplement produced by the pineal gland, some people find it helps to make them sleepy.
9. Warm milk and turkey are reputed to make you sleepy because of the L-tryptophan. Don't eat right before bed though or you'll get indigestion.

You can try meditation, herbal teas help, non-medical sleep aids such as melatonin or valerian. Warm baths, reading, deep breathing exercises, relaxation techniques. Or you may want to try and change your sleep pattern. If you are not getting up in the morning and sleeping in then you won't be tired at night. If you take a nap in the afternoon, that can affect when you go to bed. It really depends on what works for you. If this is an ongoing problem with insomnia, then the best thing is to go to your doctor.

There are two guaranteed natural ways of falling asleep:
1. Deprive yourself of sleep from the night before. (though you have to time this right, once you get over the "hump", you'll get another burst of energy).
2. Work yourself to physical exhaustion until all you can think about is a bed.

Ummm... you'll think I'm crazy, but try it! Say 2012 x infinity a few times when you lie down at night. (twenty twelve times infinity). We have musical tones in our bodies and saying the numbers uses the tones. There are numbers to help fight viruses, help with sinuses, etc. You can do more research on this topic... also search for clustered water. It is related somehow. It's true, I don't know a whole lot about it, but I know it exists. Also try 2013 x infinity in the morning to wake up!

I think the best way to get to sleep especially when your not tired is taking a warm bath with aroma therapy candles as well as some soft music. Lay there for about 15 minutes while your body relaxes...If you like tea a nice cup of hot herbal tea should do the trick right after....Nite :)

Sleep in a cool, dark room with no TV, music (unless it's relaxation music), or noise. Sometimes sleeping with a fan on can help. Get up at the same time everyday regardless of when you go to bed...that helps you're body get on a sleep schedule. No caffiene after a certain time. Don't exercise or eat too close to bed time. Sometimes a hot bath can help, too.

Several years ago, I was sleeping about 20 hours a week, and nothing I tried helped. I started taking Prozac to relieve depression and in a couple of weeks I was sleeping like a baby. Prozac is not habit forming and there are no side effects.

I find, the easiest way for dropping off to sleep is by trying to keep awake. Get yourself a warm cup of drinking chocolate, horlicks or similar - not coffee or tea (they contain stimulants), then settle yourself back into bed and try counting 1000 backwards or do some mental arithmatic.

Turn off the computer and go to bed.
Better yet, turn off the computer and all the other electronics about an hour before you want to fall asleep. Most people are kept awake by distractions.

I usually stay on the computer until my head keeps flopping over because I can't hold it up any more. Then I go in to bed and go right to sleep. If I go to bed when I'm not completely exhausted, I just toss and turn all night.
