Pay close attention to him, take him outdoors several times to go...praise him for his good deeds. Put him in a portable kennel at night, he won't pee or poop where he lives. Let him out in the morning IMMEDIATELY, don't let him back in until he's done! Make his trips a ritual and he'll let you know when he want's out. Put a pad right by the door so he can have an accident as close to the door as possible. Don't punish him for accidents, but praise him every time he goes outside. He'll get the idea. A Cocker Spaniel is a whole different experience.

Chit has it down, I forgot to mention the personal devotion on your part...Juast like raisin' a kid.

First of all patience The number one thing not to do Is make it sniff it out then hit it its a mistake alot of dog trainers make You have to let him know its bad try yelling at him instead (Hitting confuses and scared and eventually kills a relation ship just like Electric collars are good to an extent before it becomes cruelty) And praise him when he goes outside for example If their teething and they bite you you stop immediately but when They do things right you praise them Its the rule to almost all training

Crate training will work, but not if they soil their crate....that can set the crate training process back weeks. the crate should be only big enough for him to turn around in and lie down. Dogs have an instinct to soil the same space, but they will absolutely avoid soiling the spots where they sleep and eat if they can help it. I would suggest taking a week off from work and watching him in the crate constantly. take him out every half hour to pee and poop outside. give him a short perfunctory walk. pee or poop outside, then immediately come back in. Give him a trigger word, like "go potty." Take him out immediately after feeding and watering. make sure he has no food or water after 7. and put him to bed around 9. Keep the crate in your room at night so that you can hear him whine so you can take him out, you might have to get up every 3 or 4 hours. give him plenty of excercise, and play with him. you might want to have 2 crates. one for the central area of the house and one in your room.
