If you are speaking about public schools in the United States, they are credible in the links that are made, for example christianity as influence in the lives of the forefathers, the puritans, some early colonial -through early 1900 literature, etc. The thing about it is, it's not really pointed out as a significant influence either as a support or as a critique. It's kind of just glossed over as what was. If you want some kind of genuine instruction in a christian education, you'd be happier in a private school of that leaning.

thought if you wanted credible teaching in religious doctrine you needed to be taught by church elders or atleast church educated individuals. Why would any parent who values their child's religious education desire to have religious scripture taught from people who may not be of the same faith? Isn't that a conflict of interest? I mean really, you wouldn't want a self interested satanist teaching creationism to kids in the first grade, right? And since the constitution protects the workers rights to be hired on an equal opportunity standard, that teacher is not going away, unless the teacher physically touches a child.

Is that really the environment anytone would wish their child to be educated under?

I am a teacher in a public school. I am not allowed to teach Christianity except in a historical sense that it is a religion based on the teaching of Jesus Christ. I have to teach it as ancient history and I have to include the founding of all other religions.

No public school should teach any religion, as it is a public school, a place where all students can go and learn and where you leave your religion at the door so you can learn in a secular and tolerant enviroment. public schools are meant to cater for everybody whether they be christian, buddhist, hindu, aethiest, jewish, muslim, bahai, agnostic whatever! so no one religion should be taught. well actually no one religion should be taught in a scripture "this is the light" kind of way, but in the form of this is what other people believe, respect it and don't be ignorant, like a general religion class.

I know of no public schools teaching Christianity, its been made all but illegal to even wear a cross.

Unfortunate that the schools feel free to teach Islam as in the case in Paso Robles and Atascadero, CA when they are prevented from even leading a prayer to Jesus or Heavenly Father.

Our country has been turned up side down when any other faith is included in the curriculum, but you are prevented from teaching your own.

You're making the erroneous assumption that christianity is credible.

Religion has no place in public schools. If you disagree, then go enroll your kids in a public school that teaches islam. Or are you a hypocrite?

If you want a child to learn about Christianity send him/ her to a Private school. Teachers can get in BIG trouble for preaching Christianity in a public school.
