This is not an attack on religion. You aren't a martyr so let's act mature.

I'm not trying to prove atheist theory, just that it is reasonable and not as foolish as so many people claim to be. I'm an atheist because I've never seen anything convincing in God's favor. I don't see abscence of knowledge of how the universe got kick started as proof for God, I see it as my own ignorance. I don't know how life started, but that doesn't mean that it was intelligently designed, it means that my little homo sapien brain just doesn't know. Somewhere out there there is objective truth about how it happened, I just don't know it. I see my ignorance and assume nothing more than that I'm ignorant, not that if I don't know it must be a miracle. It could be a miracle sure, but I've never seen any miracles anywhere else and it's fishy that miracles only happen when no one is around or we're too ignorant to explain it.

My point, we don't see it the same way, you use faith, I wait for answers.

And the clock maker idea doesn't work. I know that man crafted the clock yes, but I know that the elements that compose it arranged themselves without any help from anything besides atomic forces and ionic/covalent attractions. All man did was manipulate something already there.

To that guy who talked about thermodynamics, the second law of thermodynamics doesn't prove anything unless you read it with a biased eye.

Kat, I don't not like your answer, the only answers I don't like are the ones that no one put any thought into and just basically call me stupid. But I do want to mention that I'm not saying you're wrong, just asking why some people think it's unreasonable to not see things their way. And I'd have to see one of these flowers, and watch it grow and see that no one ever tampered with it.

I couldn't tell how it is unreasonble unless I was close minded. I am open minded to all religions, I know there is a high power out there. An of choose I am open mind to this as well.

Some foke are just so taken by one religion they just can't see the possiblities of anything else. I have one non believer brother and one chirstion brother..... You can only image how many fights I had to sit though over this topic...It's laughible!

Can't believe l'm answering your question again. Anything of the divine is not answerable by us humans. The miracles in Fatima (dancing sun and Mother Mary's many apparitions seen by the innocent children) are still unaccepted by many and think its only hallucination and mass hysteria. We are not as intelligent as God so we can never really fathom all the unexplainable mysteries happening for ages. A million geniuses combined cannot compare to God. No book can scientifically explain His existence. If l can get a rose petal from a local church here....not an ordinary petal because the face of Christ, sometimes Mama Mary and sometimes the whole Holy Family is imprinted on it. They are fresh flowers and nobody's touching them. After some praying, they are distributed to the churchgoers and right before your eyes the images appear. You need a magnifying glass to see clearly. If that is not miracle to you then l pray that the Holy Spirit come upon you.I know you dont like my answer but its because we think differently. Good day.

My husband & I were just having a similar conversation about how fragmented Christianity is, considering, on the one hand, how JW's came about (re: the prophecy concerning the 2nd coming of Jesus, which was supposed to occur in 1844, then they moved the date no less than 3 times) and why people still followed that religion, even though the prophecy was proven wrong. I postulated the theory that when you are growing up in whatever family's belief system, that's the one you think is the one everyone has. You have no idea that there is anything different out there, so even when you grow up and know the difference, you still cling to the "old way", and feel guilty if you "change sides". I don't think religious belief systems are wrong. I think that what we are seeing here is the dynamics of learning, the psychology of the human mind. Think about it. I'm right. I know I am.

I agree with you but atheism isn't a theory. It is the recognition of what you claimed.

There is no credible evidence to support God belief, so atheism is a logical choice. It is not a belief or a theory, it is the result of theists failing to provide credible evidence to support their claims.

If there were no theists, the word atheism would have no meaning.

To Mel (above):

Agnostic literally translates to "ignorant" and is a meaningless term since non-existence cannot be and does not need to be proven. It is incumbent on those who claim things exist to prove they exist. Absent evidence of existence, we assume things don't exist since non-existence cannot be proven.

Agnostic isn't a belief, philosophy or viewpoint, it is a weasel word that has no meaning.

Your assertion implies atheists are dogmatically stupid and would reject credible evidence that supported God belief. That is a mischaracterization of atheism.

Maybe because you haven't really understood Science and Mathematics, in the sence of how they tie into creation.

There is a start for you.

P.S. Study Thermodynamics.

But doesn't the fact that you just don't know make you agnostic. It's my understanding that Atheists firmly believe there is no God. If you received evidence that God existed then you would believe right?

It's not unreasonable.
People who are religious just think they've found the truth/answers you're searching for.

Either that or they've been brainwashed by their parents.

Your argument still fails when talking to people with the fullness of the Christian faith. God Bless you.
