Most atheists are cool. Some are jerks.
Just like every religious belief.
What do I think about atheism? Interesting question. I believe it's the truth - plain and simple. For some it may be a sad truth but that doesn't change the fact that it is the truth. Atheism seems to me to be the desire to accept the world for what it is - in its beauty and in its ugliness - and not hide behind a wall of fear.

I don't know, but I find it funny when some of them wonder why so many people don't like atheism and then proceed to act like conceited jackasses that insult other people's beliefs to no end. Of course, I'm not saying that all atheists are like this, but quite a few on the internet are, and they give the others a bad name.
To say something to their credit, though, at least they're honest in admitting that they don't believe in God. Many "religious" people today who supposedly believe in God live as if he didn't exist. Atheists also live as if God didn't exist (they would say that's because he doesn't exist, but anyway...), but at least they're being consistent with their beliefs when they do so.

To be honest, I've only met like 2 or 3 other atheists in my entire life. I can say that extremists on all sides suck. But over all I think that we're usually more analytical and more concerned with hard evidence than faith and other artsy right brained things. In my case anyways, assuming most of them are atheists for the same reasons.

I give them the same rule I give everybody else. I'll show the same respect for their beliefs that they show mine.
I believe in God because of my personal experiences. I would expect no less from anyone else. Why should someone with no spiritual experiences believe as I do? How could they?
I've spent time with atheists that were far less annoying then some Christians I know.

We're probably the last group that it is openly permissible to hate, now that gays, blacks and jews are generally accepted in society.
To "mel":
Why don't you become an agnostic because you cannot demonstrate _today_ someone rising from the dead and walking around?
To "John Winston":
Atheists talk about religion because people like yourself won't keep religion out of schools or government. To continue what I said above, people used to tell blacks to be quiet and "know your place".

Most of them are intelligent and speak their mind and know what they want, they think for their self and are free, most of them don't spend their time trying to convert people and most are good people in general.
I think people should stop judging people based upon their beliefs. I mean there is a reason why there is more then one religion, if you believe your is correct that's fine just let others do the same. Everyone haves the right to believe in what ever they believe in. Not a single one of us haves the right to judge anyone.

I think they don't believe that we all come from a common Source.
They think that their conciousness is a random by-product of their physical body which is an accident of nature, which is an accident of physics, which just IS i guess, they can't get beyond that but don't care to much.
Mostly they are waiting for some physical proof of a higher existence

I'm an atheist, so I am biased. I think we are good people just like most believers.
For the Christians complaining about insults, please remember that your bible insults us. Every Christian bible printed calls us foolish and no good. Why is it OK for you to insult us for thousands of years but it's bad if we insult you?

Well truthfully, the ones who spend time in this catagory (that in itself is a mystery) call us names. They will ask a question, then towards the end start with the insults.
I personally want people to believe what they want. I will share my faith if asked, I will not try and drag them kicking and screaming to God. Not sure why they seem to angry here...anyway.
