Im sorry but women were not responsible for original sin... The catholic church even teachs that the eden story wasnt true... it was just a story to illustrate to the poor people of Jesus's time some concepts. Back them common people were illiterate...

well no, the catholic church is NOT SEXIST. the catholic church has MANY female saints and they are greateful for these saints.. the catholic church gives special recognition to a woman of great faith: the mother of jesus, mary most holy. they give special attention to female members of the church. this just proves that the catholic church is NOT SEXIST.

Why do you think it's the Catholics who are sexist towards woman? It's not just the Catholics but ANY religion. The problem is they take the bible too seriously.

I think most of the bible is crap. Some of it is based on fact and some of it is just made up. The reason I believe this is because it wasn’t written right after the events took place. Instead it was written hundreds of years later, after people had retold the stories over and over. Like a roomer, the stories would have changed to become more interesting. Some of these changes would have been sexist towards woman. Also some fake stories would have been added.

Example: The Adam and Eve story-- Eve ate the apple, got them kicked out of the garden and made it so women have to go through the pain of childbirth-- It's pretty obvious that this story (along with many other stories in the bible) is made up since there is evidence that we all evolved. If Adam and Eve DID exist, they would have been either microscopic squiggly things from the sea -or- some kind of monkey people. This story was created by some stupid guy who wanted an explanation for why woman go through the pain of childbirth.

I don’t know why there isn’t any woman priests. I think that’s stupid. If a woman wants to be a priest, I think she should be able to. We are EQUALS and it's about time ALL the religions realized that.

As for you getting on the Catholics... Yah I've heard a lot of bad stories about Catholics but I went to a Catholic school, learned a lot about their religion and I don’t think they're all that bad. I don’t agree with everything they say but besides that whole Adam and Eve thing, I never felt downsized because I’m a girl...
Now, Born Again Christians (or at least the ones I’ve talked to)seem to be more sexist than the Catholics. The reason I say this is because I went to a church with my guy friend, who is a Born Again Christian. When everyone was leaving, my friend and this other guy took some stuff out to this woman’s car. I told my friend that I would have liked to help carry stuff out but he said that wouldn’t have been right. The woman agreed with him, saying how doing those kinds of things is the man’s job. Then she explained why she believed this--(According to her, us woman are supposed to have the guys pick up the heavy things, open doors for us and do all this other crap that makes us look like ditzy little girls that can't do anything for ourselves) I told her that’s not how I want to be treated and she told me that I have to get use to it because that's the way God wants it.......... (I DON'T THINK SO!!)

Please believe me when i say that im not sexist. I go to church almost every sunday, Im not catholic, but i am a christian and i used to go to a non-demonational church called The Vineyard. We had a female pastor for the 2 years i went there untill i found a new church because of her. Some sundays she would try to preach but couldn't stop crying, literaly crying, when she was preaching about the love of God. This was moving at first, because many woman and some men cry in church. (my mother in law crys all service everytime she goes, its cute) But a pastor is supposed to be an orator, someone who can speak with power. And half the time i couldn't understand what she was saying.

A pastor of a church isn't always the person in the congregation that knows the most, or memorized the most versus, he or she is the person who gets the point across so that the most people can understand. And if your going to a church and you cant understand your pastor than you should find another place where you can learn more.

Like i said i chose that church, and i liked having a female pastor, but i also left because of it.

Keep in mind that my opinion is based on one female pastor. And i would never disrespect her she had a love for God that was unsurpassed, and she was a very good, and Godly woman.

It is true that the Catholic Church does not currently ordain women. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.

The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

However, unlike some other Christian Churches, the Catholic Church teaches that marriage should be a true partnership, with both spouses submitting to each other.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

Both give themselves definitively and totally to one another. They are no longer two; from now on they form one flesh. the covenant they freely contracted imposes on the spouses the obligation to preserve it as unique and indissoluble.

"What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder."

With love in Christ.

most churches have a mistaken idea that women are less important to men - which is a wrong teaching

in the bible all that stuff about women is based on the conditions AFTER of the fall in the garden of Eden NOT on the prime directive before the fall

to be consistent the church would have to sow weeds in your garden (just in case you were trying to grow anything) and to be sure of everyone dying (lets not call that murder shall we?) and also to make sure they spread every cold and flu-bug going (to make absolutely sure that everyone experiences illness)

i am a christian but i don't like the misogyny i find in so many churches any more than you do but am working to change things from within

What is "our opinion on females"? You mean our stance on birth control? Thats not an opinion on females, that an opinion on the sanctatity of life.

Or if you mean the fact that we dont let women be priests? The reason for this is because all of the Apostels ( the first Bishops) were men. So all of their sucessors have been men.

Or if you jsut mean something like..."the catholic church is jsut a big conspiracy to try and take over the world"....then grow up

If you're using the Catholic Church as the standard by which all Christians are judged, then I can't help you. The Catholic Church is wrong about a lot of things, but the place of women is one thing they're correct about.

im an athiest also and u have to look at the bible in a certain way. it was created more than a thousand years ago and when it was created women were subject to there husbands. no one suspects that should be true now. and for the female priests i think its because it was woman who made the origonal sin. it was woman who is the reason mankind isnt in the "garden of eden". thats my reasoning for it.

Because it was originally spread by power hungry blood thirsty men that just wanted to control everything, not really that interested in the religion. So after the religion spread, burning heretics and witches was what was spread with it. And it is common knowledge that the weaker among religious resist change at all costs to stay in their comfort zone. Luckily they can't burn heretics anymore or you and me would have a lot bigger problems than sexism huh?
