He's worried that he (bush) will be tried for war crimes. That's why he's pushing so hard, because he's afraid that if the Democrats win, they could impeach/try him for the 1996-97 "War Crimes Act".
He's not REALLY worried about the CIA or the troops getting tried, he's worried about his own sorry @ss.

Z Clifton 2,
Do you honestly believe that
our 'masterful, honest' politicians,
from all sides, have not been aware
of this?
This is grandstanding in the most
coward of ways.
Shame on all of the House Reps,
they are the ones destroying us.
Torture has been used by all
nations, at all times, for a v very
very long time.
Sad but true.

None of this will matter when the terrorists attack our country again and kill thousands of innocent men women and children. Then and only then you whinny cry babies will demand to know why the party in power at that time let it happen.
I say back off and let the people in charge of securing our people do their job. Nothing I have seen so far alleging torture by our country even gets close to what is done by the thugs and Islamist Nazis. We do not behead innocent people on TV. Nor do we blow up mourners at funerals. You want to get on someones case get on the case of the fanatics who want to destroy YOU and believe me they have YOU AND YOUR FAMILY in their sights as surely as they have me and my family.

I don't know where you got your made up facts, but the vote is not about allowing torture, it's about defining what torture is. Torture has to be defined in the Army manual so that it can be avoided and those that break the rules will be punished. If it was my decision, I would begin by outlawing sawing off heads and dropping people feet first into a wood chipper.

This is about the election, and distancing themselves from Bush!
For Bush it is a "get out of jail free" card as there is no doubt that he, along with others, are going to be charged as war criminals!
The only principle they are standing on is to get re elected, and a lot know their jobs are on the line!

The Republicans have the White House, Senate, and House.
"Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Hopefully, we'll get some balance soon.

I am still confused as to why obtaining information to safegaurd our country from a group of people (terrorists and known sabateurs) can, in any way, be seen as nothing but heroic. I do not believe in torture as a main method of gleaning information. However, I do know that our enemies will stop at nothing to gain information from us, as evidenced by the decapitations and brutal way we sometimes find the bodies of kidnapped citizens and soldiers.
Sometimes, kinder and gentler does not work!

You mindless democrats have been able to spew your ingnorance for far too long. Where did you digest that tripe? Did it come from the communist public schools, or did you hear it on the "news."
I apologize for being a thought-criminal...
