I had a hamster once that rejected me. He bit my finger and never wanted me to go near him. But I fed him and kept him healthy until he died, then I gave him a nice little burial. What I didn't do was take him out and submit him to extreme heat and make him suffer forever for rejecting me.
So am I more loving than God or is Hell a completely human idea that a very vengeful person could only think up?
I don't see how anyone can believe that a loving God would honestly let his beloved children suffer and burn for eternity with his nemesis just for not following inconsistent and incoherent texts and propaganda that can't even be called evidence.
I'm an atheist by the way, I'm just wondering about how people can call him so loving when obviously humans are capable of much greater compassion.

To Kat, I'm not trying to prove anything, just asking people to consider that the religion can be flawed. Many people stand by the idea that the Bible never says there is a Hell where you suffer forever, and they actully believe the rest of the stuff. Plus the Hell myths keep getting worse. Thank you for the prayers though, I appreciate that you try to do what you think is right.

First of all, that was dear of you to care for that little hamster.
I understand your question. I don't think I could convince you that God is indeed loving and compassionate. I think we each need to find out about God's character ourselves. Even though, you are correct, there is a hell and the bible says those who reject Jesus will go to it when they die, my experience of God is that He is perfect in all His ways. Just, merciful, compassionate. But He is also holy, and sin will never enter His presence. That is why, when you accept Jesus, your sins are washed away.
And also why, if a person does not accept Jesus, they will not enter God's presence.

Hell is a human idea to create peace in this crazy world. I believe in god but not the vengeful spiteful god that some religions believe in

Please do not associate God with any religious book or any religious group that endorses those books. Sin, hell and Satan are man made words, not God made.
You are not more compassionate than God, but you are surely more compassionate than a lot of His believers.
By the way, God does not care which road you take to Him, or if you take no road at all. I will see you on the other side. Our souls will live on.

You are right. No compassionate person or God would want to see a person suffer for eternity.

I don't think that you are more compassionate than God. :-) God is good even when we don't understand.
It takes faith & trust to see the ways of Providence. Faith is a gift that was given to me by God & my family. I've accepted God's ways myself and am full of gratitude.
I hope life works out for you!

My,my,my. You atheists will say anything to prove yourselves worthy. I honestly feel sorry and feel sympathetic to them at the same time. My brother is also an atheist.I pray for him every night. I will pray for all atheists even if they hate it. St. Paul was once like that. It's still not too late.

Thank you for this opprotunity.
Considering our mortality, that would make sense. However, many people have not yet rejected the possibility that we are infact, immortal on one level or other. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that when we mimic death (ie: sleep), we dream.

Maybe thats why God created us to be compassionate, so we can do some of the work for him.
