Exactly. That's exactly what it is though, we have freedom in our countries and they don't.
Now here's a better question. What I also don't understand is why (certain) Muslims not only preach their religion but are seemingly allowed to preach hatred as extreme as calling for the killings of non Muslims and beheadings to those who insult islam.
Here, we even have to go out of our way to give them special privelidges such as in jail, they rebuilt some part so that they could have toilets facing a certain way (away from the Mecca, some rule they have)
Now I have nothing against Muslims but that's taking it a bit too far imo.

Because they are theocracys. Theocracy means the country is ruled by one the principals of one religion. That is what the Christian Colition with Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson is trying to do here , they are spendingmillions and millions to elect Evangelistics to political office and change the Constitution. That means that the 100 and more other religions in America would no longer be recognized. and Born Again Bush could battle it out with the Mid East as long as he wishes.

Where did you get these information? Want to know the truth? You better travel to (example: Indonesia, the largest Islamic country) rather than being manipulated by your medias.
NB: Insulting is totally different from preaching.

There are more Islamic countries in the world than these two. try looking at the broader picture and please, then give a opinion.
i am from an Islamic country with a church nearby my house. and yes there are mosques around too. i havent heard a single christian in my country ever complaining about having problems maintaining their religion. we observe national holidays in times of Christmas or Easter (i doubt in how many chrisitan majority countries holidays are observed on Eid and you people talk about tolerance .. huh!) and there are even special programs run everywhere on different christian (and other) religious occassion. there are even missionary schools here with mostly muslims students too and these schools are good ones.

"Here, we even have to go out of our way to give them special privelidges such as in jail, they rebuilt some part so that they could have toilets facing a certain way (away from the Mecca, some rule they have)"
Sidenote: The whole toilets issue was based more on a principle of power rather than religion. In Middle Eastern countries themselves, toilets are faced any which way, and you won't see any Muslims around here remodeling their houses based on toilet position. It was more a way to call attention to themselves and assert a position of authority when they seemingly had none.
In regards to the actual question, its been answered quite thoroughly. Iran and S.A. are two examples of badly run theocracies. In other countries, Christians are a vital part of the community. Hell, in Syria, Christmas is as big a deal as Ramadan and Eid.
To the complete ignorance and stupidity in this thread, I will do my best to ignore. Its wasting breath (or in this case finger energy) to rectify their misperceptions.

Dear my brother,i most welcome your question. In islamic countries except Macca and Medina (there is no non-islam),all religions can practice their own freely. At the time of prophet Mohammed and Caliphas they allowed other religions to pray inside mosques(History of Al-Aqsa). I suggest you to learn more about History of Islam and life of a muslim.

Please take note that there are only two Islamic countries and you mentioned them. All the other Middle East countries are Arab and allow Christians to practice their religion openly.

It's what happens when a country, state, or whatever authorizes a state religion. That's what American tries to hard to avoid and why we have separation of church and state.
