Maybe the crate is too big. If he can get away from the mess in the crate then he needs a smaller crate.

your dog may be too young. you shouldn't even attempt crate training until he's old enough to hold his bladder. That will be about 12-14 weeks. Crate training will work, but not if they soil their crate....that can set the crate training process back weeks. You might need a smaller crate. If a divider pannel is available, you might want to put that in. the crate should be only big enough for him to turn around in and lie down. you might want to get him a whole new crate because it has his scent all over it. Dogs have an instinct to soil the same space, but they will absolutely avoid soiling the spots where they sleep and eat if they can help it. At the very least, you'll have to change his bed(get a new one), and scrub the rest of the crate raw with natures miracle(you can get it at petco). I would suggest taking a week off from work and watching him in the crate constantly. take him out every half hour to pee and poop outside. give him a short perfunctory walk. pee or poop outside, then immediately come back in. Give him a trigger word, like "go potty." Take him out immediately after feeding and watering. make sure he has no food or water after 7. and put him to bed around 9. As far as eating his feces, if its outside, you might want to put tabasco sauce over them(i'm not kidding, it's not that big a deal, puppies do eat their own feces). Word of caution, worm eggs live in puppies fecal matter. Keep the crate in your room at night so that you can hear him whine so you can take him out, you might have to get up every 3 or 4 hours. hope this helps!!!

I hate crates!
You need to put him in a smaller room kitchen or laundry room while your not home.
make sure he has toys fresh water and food and some people try those puppy pads I also hate those, its just like saying yes its ok to pee on the floor.
Try the smaller room with a gate, take him out often and make sure you love him up when he does his duty,
I have four beagles and never crated them.
try it.
crates are like a little prison for pups

House breaking takes a while, so try to be patient, it took my chihuahua mix over a month to get it, and she still had accidents on occasion. The fact that he goes in his crate is probably because he is used to going in there...change the newspaper as often as you can. And try changing his diet, he could be missing something and that is why he's eating his wastes, and try to pick that up as soon as possible as well. Continue to take him out as often as you can, especially after he eats, and be sure to give him a lot of praise and maybe even a treat when he goes outside. You can also try putting newspaper outside where you want him to go...since it sounds like maybe he has gotten used to going on the newspaper. Then, after he seems like he understands he should go outside instead of inside, remove the newspaper and he will just go on the ground outside.

If the dog is eating his feeces, he is most likely vitamin deficient. Ask the vet about some supplements. As far as training, I found the wee wee pads are great. Praise him when he goes on one and move it closer and closer to the door and then move it outside. He'll get the hint

you could not anticipate 10 week previous domestic dogs to housebreak right now.. it quite is like waiting for a 4 month previous infant to apply the bathroom. Get some piddle pads at your puppy save and get the canines knowledgeable to those first. it is person-friendly to take them exterior, yet do not anticipate too plenty formerly each and everything. Their bladders are small. gradually, as they become older, you could withdraw the pads and get them to urinate and defecate exterior. you will ought to completely freshen up the spots the place they have long gone on your carpet. The black mild try is meant to paintings nicely. returned examine your puppy save or Drs. Foster and Smith catalog.

I never used the crate method.I have a rottie/ shepard mix.
I showed him his "accident" or his poo.I picked it up,put it in the backyard(in a far corner).I gave him a "time-out" out in the backyard.(10 minutes, tops)After a week,he started to paw at the back door to "go" outside, and paw at the door to come back in.We told him "good boy,go potty"(use whatever phrases work for you)He never(I mean never) had another accident in the house.(3 yrs later)

he will get it if you do the SAME routine every day. dogs love routine. so they can predict when they can go out and hold it. it has to be the same times every day. also feed and water on a schedule. soon the time to go will be the same every day and you can make sure he is out at that time. also STAY out long enough WITH him until he goes so your sure he went BEFORE being created. . i'm working on my 4th baby dane . the other 3 all worked by 3 months. also i found a doggie door was the best way and a fence. they often just cant figure out how to let you know they need to go out. with a doggie door they just go out when they need to. once they "get" thats where you want them to pee.
