Hi there...We see cats drinking milk in commercials, old tv shows and the like. But the fact of the matter is that most cats are lactose intolerant. That means that they can't digest the sugars in milk. Milk also has very little to no nutritional value for cats. The fact of the matter is that a cat fed only on milk will become malnurished.
Although milk is not toxic to cats, it may have adverse effects. Simply put, adult cats fed a nutritious diet don't need milk, and many cats are lactose-intolerant, which means that the lactose in milk and milk products produces stomach upset, cramps, and gassiness.
As a staple cats should always have fresh, cool water available to them.

Ironically enough, cats lack the ability to properly digest the lactose in cow's milk. Strange, huh? We are so use to thinking they can drink it. If you were just wondering, there you go. If you have a kitten and need to feed it milk, pet stores have kitten fomula that you can mix up like baby formula.

Cats and kittens are generally lactose intolerant. If you have a kitten that you are bottle feeding because it is too young for solid food, you should get KMR (kitten milk replacer) from the store or your vet. It's specially formulated for growing kittens. If it is an older kitten on solid foods, just plain water will be perfectly fine for it to drink - it doesn't need milk.

It's really risky to use it with a kitten. If the kitten has been weaned it no longer needs any milk and cow's milk in particular can cause diarrhea which can be life-threatening in a kitten.
So lay off that stuff. My Kinsey cat likes to lap the milk from the bottom of my cereal bowl and it does him no harm.
Canned cat food and fresh filtered water is the way to go with a kitten.

depends how old the kitten is.
if it's really young (2-5 weeks) it needs special dietary food. you can get at the vet or sometimes the hardware store.
if it's older than that it should already be starting to eat kitten chow. at this age once in a while a very small amount of cow milk won't harm the kit.
i think older cats handle cow milk better than kittens do. talk to your vet.
good luck.

It is okay to give a kitten cows milk but in moderation. Cow's milk can cause diarrhea in dogs and cats.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Kitty cant digest the lactose in cow milk, and other dairy products such as yoghurt. If you give your kitten cows milk, it will make the kitten vomit and have diarrohea. Give your kitten special cat milk, you can buy it in the supermarkets.
