This is a good one.I think it must go back to the Neanderthal times.Under ware had not been invented,and can you just imagine running around in the heat with those awful animal pelts as clothes.Well,I think we all here knows what happens to the"twigs and berries"in the heat.The boys can get pretty itchy and sticky down there.So, I'm thinking this is a trait that just hasn't evolved.Like hunting and grunting.It's a primal instinct to scratch when it itches,and I do believe also that they are making sure it's still there. But Gary,you should be telling us,it's always more interesting to hear from the culprit himself.(LOL)And as far as women go,we're afraid that if you guy's see us scratching,you're going to want to do that for us!!!! Excellent question!! Sounds like you have a good sense of humor.

I honestly don't know why men scratch themselves in public as if no one can see them. Women try to do things a little bit more discretely.

You need to look more closely, because women have learned how to scratch an itch in public in very creative ways!! I think it less than men but way more than you could imagine!!

I think men are usually "adjusting" themselves - not scratching. When women have an itch, they're polite enough to step into the restroom or something first.

That's not true. All humans scratch themselves. We are not fondling our privates, like I have seen some guys do. BUT, we do scratch and pick the undies out of our rears.

Men are less clean and take showers less often. So they are dirty and so they itch. Scratching relieves the itching. They do it in public because they are less refined than women.

i believe that men scratch themselves in public because they think its cool..whilst women think it is improper to do so.
But, the more logical answer to that is, women's is rather down under and it will take all their will-power to go and scracth it, Men on the other hand....well..it is there, ready for groping, right?

my husband claims men DO NOT scratch themselves in public they "adjust themselves" dont know if that helps or not

Men may adjust themselves in one way, but I have seen many women adjust their bras.
