In 1984, Julio Cesar Chavez (#2) fought Mario Martinez (#1) for the vacant WBC Super Featherweight title. If Camacho hadn't vacated, who would he most likely have fought and what would have happened?

Jane ~
In my opinion, Hector would have fought Roger Mayweather, Roger won the Championship later in 1984 but was looking to fight Camacho early on. This would be a matter of Roger laying on the ropes, tucking his head into his left shoulder and giving Camacho only the left side of his body to hit. Roger now trains his nephew Floyd who fights basically the same way Roger did but Floyd's much, much faster and I believe he hits harder.
Hector fought much different in 1984 than he did later in his career, people seem to forget that he was much more flatfooted and would go toe to toe a lot and use his superior speed and boxing skills. It's the fight he had with Edwin Rosario in 1986 that made him realize that he didn't like to be hit and turned him into a runner. That fight forever changed him.
The fight; Being 1984 Hector would take forever getting into the ring, The Black Mamba would be walking back and forth in the ring, Hector would taunt him the whole way into the ring, even when they are given instructions by the referee Hector would taunt him and then the fight would begin. Hector would clearly outbox Roger, roger would then retreat to the ropes but Hector would stay out of Rogers countering range and bust up Rogers body with hooks to his body the same way Julio Cesar Chavez did when he fought Roger, Hector was a really good body puncher in 1984.
The fight would be onsided and Roger would be happy to stay on the Ropes and Hector would win a lopsided decision.
Thanks for the question Jane.

Jane, I think Hector would have fought Rocky Lockridge. In February 1984, Rocky won the WBA junior lightweight crown with a 1st rd KO of Roger Mayweather. Camacho-Lockridge would have been an interesting fight. Lockridge was a skilled boxer with underrated power. I do think, though, that Camacho's size and speed would have enabled him to win a unanimous decision over Rocky.

I think he would have fought Roger Mayweather and Rocky Lothridge and would have beaten both of them. I would have loved a fight between him and Chavez.

Roger Mayweather would have been around to fight and pick up the gauntlet and Edwin Viruet would have given any winner a run for their money.
