okay first things first - i am 26 years old, female and my parents broke up when i was 5. my mother started dating a man a year ago and they have just moved in together. the problem is he has a son who i bonded with straight away. we talk about everything and go out together all the time. things have started heating up between us lately and i don't know what to do. my mother has always said that he and i would make a great couple and even my brother and friends tell me to go for it. but i don't know, is it wrong to be dating my mothers boyfriends son?? i do not see my mum's boyfriend as a father figure at all, he is just like a friend and we get along too. i do not live with them, but visit regulary. i know there is no blood relation, but i just don't know if this is right or not. please help me, no smart ass remarks please, i just need some guidance on this one. thanks all!!

Nah nothing wrong with that.
If you had been with the son first, and your Mum had expressed attraction toward the father, would you stop her from having a chance at love just cause it's a bit awkward?
Go for it...

Technically there is no problem with dating him, but just be prepared for things to get weird in the future. #1 if your mom and her boyfriend break up and you and the b/f's son stay together it could make for really awkward family gatherings. #2 if you mom and her boyfriend stay together and get married, then you and your boyfriend will be step-brother & sister, which sounds a little "West Virginia" to me.
Bottom line, as long as both you and him are prepared for any awkward moments in the future, you should go for it

I don't see a problem if your mom is ok with it and he's ok with it and it's not like he is your brother and you are a adult. The only thing is that if you do get involed and something goes wrong you will have to see him all the time and there will be no way to get around it.

It is, however, weird. But if all the people approved, especially your mother. Go for it. It's all in your mind, but if it's not weird for your mom and your friends think so too then give it a shot. Things won't be so weird when you actually try it and like it.

Don't do it. Could mean trouble in the long run. Just keep the friendship/relationship as is. Keep it in the "butterflies in the stomach stage"....(we all know that's the best part of a relationship...it never gets any better than that.)

The only harm in dating your mother's boyfriend's son, is if your mother and her BF break up and you don't, will they both come to your wedding? Or if you break up with the son (or he with you) will your mother or her bf be upset? As long as you know the risks, go for it.

It's awkward, but not wrong. If all of you, mom, mom's boyfriend, and his son agree that this is comfortable enough. Then go for it.
