Many Christians believe that the Pope is the Antichrist, and by a simple search on google http://www.google.com/search?q=pope+antichrist&hl=en&lr= you will find that many have quoted biblical verses to prove that the Pope is the Antichrist.
So, is he trying to inflame the final war? He intentionally said that Islam brought evil to the world by quoting a 600 years old text by a Byzantinist Emperor. He also know that Muslims are sensitive and the issue of the cartoons is still quite fresh.
Honestly, I don't like the way Muslims deal with such matters. If they want to be violent, then they should better do that with their leaders who treat them like sheep. Christians dealt with DaVinci Code with tranquility with no destruction of property, while Muslims are good at kicking and screaming and burning flags.
Anyway, the question is, why do you think the Pople injected this irrelevant verse to his speech? And in his first speech he declared that Christians and Jews should be friends?

pope being in a responsible position as a head of a religion ,the followers of which are billions of people without thinking for a while made remarks about Islam and thus hurt the sentiments of Muslims. the Muslims instead of protesting in a democratic manner resorted to violence and torched churches and killed an Italian nun. this violent reaction made pope retract his remarks.any how he felt sorry. better to treat the subject closed.even Buddhists did not resort to violence when Taliban's destroyed statutes of lord Buddha in Afghanistan.

A pope (not particularly this one) could be the anti-Christ's prophet, and not the anti-christ himself.
I agree Christians and Jews can and are in some cases friends.
We worship the same God, but disagree on who the Messiah is.
I understand that the pope made a comment how Islam is a violent religion? His job is to unite and bring people of all faith together and live peacefully.

Only Palestines react with violence, the others protested. The west keeps picking on Islam, like when a nerd finally fights back at the Bully. If the U.S. policy wasn't the way it is, the Middle Easterners would be focused on their government.
Bush has killed hundreds of thouands of Afgahns and Iraqis, Jets bombed and destroyed Iraq. The reason people are Anti American is political, the American Foreign Policy is not good.
It is a 101 war sence that if you destroy a nation and try to place a ruling class that there will be a civil war.
If the Pope sincely wanted peace, he wouldn't said it. He really doesn't want peace does he. How is he a good person, what was he trying to accomplish, why would he seek gudiance from a text from the dark ages.... I do think he may be evil a little
a text from the Dark Ages?come on...

i don't think of any pope may be candidate for the Antichrist,, in keeping with risk the fake prophet. There are 2 beasts in Revelations. One seems to upward push from the political/economic scene (antichrist), and the different from the non secular scene (fake prophet). The non secular one motives all to worship the political chief, who finally calls himself god by ability of sitting interior the newly geared up 0.33 temple in Jerusalem or erecting a statue of himself in a wing of that temple (stated via fact the "abomination of desolation" in scripture and occurs with regard to the a million/2-element by way of tribulation) there is a few hypothesis the Antichrist would be Jewish considering that scripture talks approximately "the God of his fathers" and unquestionably makes use of "Elohiym" for "God" in that verse, that's the Hebrew notice for the God of the OT (Dan 11:37).

Hey,the Pope can never be the Anti Christ. He could be the false Prophet but the Anti Christ will be a political leader who works out a peace plan with Israel(which he breaks in 3 1/2 yrs)That's why it's important to watch Israel.

No, I don't think he's the Antichrist...I think Osama bin ladan (Spelled right?) Has dibs on that title for now. He's probable not the one Revelations speaks of...but he could run a close second!
God blesses those that bless Israel. So, I say God Bless Israel!
I don't know what Bible the Pope has been reading from...Mine says, love one another as the second greatest commandment. We don't get to choose who the one anothers are...it encompasses everyone!
The great thing about Christianity is that we spread the gospel of Jesus and if you chose not to believe, we've at least done our part in spreading the truth. We don't behead / kill you. It's up to God to judge, not us!
Grace to all and God Bless!

Not at all - the antichrist will initially be popular and well-liked. Current pope isn't making the grade in that regard.
