I have many health problems and I have to be seen by a couple different doctors a month. I have to take time off work to do this and it seems to be causing problems. What do I do? I have to keep after my health, but I have to have my job as well. I don't know how to make them understand that I am not just full of ****, they I really do have to go to the doctor. I am salary, but always make up my time. Any suggestions?

I hope you can get well soon.

I know I would try to schedule apt in late afternoon. Then if come in say early all the time .. and leave early all the time, then they might never know. Perhaps you can get a weekend apt too.

I don't know if taking time off work would heal you up faster .. that is between you and your doctors, but if it would I would do it.

I would also swing by your HR department armed with some documentation. be nice, but be strong.

you do not have to disclose any problem that you have that may be a disability. remember they are diseases If you wish to go to HR and talk about it with notes written that at these specific times and dates on a regular basis you will be seen you can. It seems you are the type of person to go in early and stay late if needed. so you can make the time up. no one would want to get rid of a loyal worker like that. if they do and I only say if they do since you had a meeting provided documents you can count on discrimination against you from the company. that's the last thing they want on their record with the Better Business Bureau. Hope this helps you I have done some of these things.

if that became an issue with me, i would make appointments about 2 or 3 weeks in advance so that when you notify your employer it isn't sudden and the schedule can be adjusted. another thing to consider is that since you have to go every month, you can try and work it out so its the same day every month whether its the same number day (ie: every month on the 1st), the same day of the week at the same time of the month (ie: every 3rd Wednesday), etc.

Maybe you can ask your doctors for copies of your charts. Then set a time to meet with your supervisor or boss. Show them exactly what is going on. This way they can see that you are telling the truth.

Doctor's notes? You need proof in writing to protect yourself.
