and they need this and that and want you to buy this and send in money for that and they need pop tabs and box tops and picture day money and field trip money and lunch money and then they have skating parties and fundraising nights at restaurants and spring flings and they want you to work at all these events and your child drives you nuts to go to all these events! I am so broke after all this and tired!!! The schools say family time is important, but after homework and all these events, we're too pooped and busy to have any family time! Well, I guess I'm just venting my frustrations about the school system. Also, over 50% of my taxes go the schools and they still want all this money from me! Are your schools like this too?

Amen sister!!! I feel your pain. My son's school is the same way. I joke about saying that I'm getting pimped out by the school. They want and need money for everything and heaven forbid if your kid is the only one that doesn't do it. I actually had to but my son school supplies like glue sticks for him to use in the classroom. It's getting way out of control.

All public schools are like that and it's a load of crap. I say NO field trips. I say NO sports. If they need paper, chalk, a chalk board replaced, toilet paper, then I will donate those items. If another child doesn't have what they need, I will buy for the other child. However, I don't think that the sports teams need new uniforms, etc. I don't think that my child's class needs to go to the park for a field trip. They have recess and a playground......that's more than plenty.

Not really.
My (public) school, although its really high in the state as per educational standards is overall fairly poor. I don't mean that its a really poor school, but there's nothing too great about it as opposed to other high schools.
The only fundraiser we had was for the prom, and thats about it.

I also think to wonder, if so much tax money goes to the school, who eats it all up. They obviously aren't spending all of it to help the school!
