How does it compare in price to a regular bakery?
My mother in law to be was going to make it, but feels too pressured now. So... were wondering if we should go to a bakery- but the wedding is this oct. 7th so we figured too short notice, and might have to go to albertsons...

Our cake from Publix was great, BUT we had a very small wedding and a very small reception. It wasn't very expensive, but I can't tell you how much, since my grandma paid for it. Most grocery stores really can do quality bakery goods. Just make sure you get the order in now if your wedding is the 7th.

Oct. 7th is not too short notice. You should be able to find a bakery to do a wedding cake in a couple days. Call around. Albertson's makes good cakes, but they aren't fantastic. Call bakeries first.

Go to a bakery and order a small cake for the cake cutting ceremony and in the kitchen have costco or sam's club sheet cakes ready to serve. It costs a lot less and you still get to have the pretty cake for the cutting. They are a lot better than the grocery store cakes.

I got a wedding cake from a grocery store in my area and it was great! I loved it and it was really cheap. Only $25 and it fed about 60 people. We only had a small wedding. They also made it up with our wedding colours and little plastic accesories like doves and wedding bells. I dont think it really matters where you go to get it. Cake is cake so unless your a bridezilla and need it to look absolutely perfect like you spend hundreds of dollars on it then you'll be ok going to a grocery store.

Bought mine from Safeway, just a small cake, for a small wedding.

It was great and very cheap when compared to most bakers. Getting it from Albertsons is probably going to be just fine and save you some money for the honeymoon!

Best of luck!

It's just fine. I had an Albersons cake at my wedding. Yes, we did everything ourselves and needed to find inexpensive alternatives. We got a plain white sheet cake with our names on it and decorated it with fresh flowers. Very pretty and nobody thought we were cheap.

I have tasted cakes from Sam's Club and Costco and they are REALLY good. They both have wedding cakes here in town and are nice and affordable.

My cousin got one there and lets just say that it was a 'brown' wedding....everyone got severe intestinal disorders and there were not enough bathrooms to go around.
