Okay, so I got a clicker to train my dog. My dog was scared of it... our other dog loved it... Any sugestions on how to help my dog overcome her fear of the clicker? Any sugestions on helping her overcome some of her other fears? (I babied her to much when she was a puppy, big mistake) help? advice?

If he's afraid, don't use a clicker. There are many way's . A number of year's ago I had throat cancer and couldn't speak for almost a year. I retrained my 2 year old dog with hand signal's. He was very receptive to this and it was easy. When he did what I wanted I petted him and gave him smiling approval. A curled hand with forfinger straight up meant stop. Open hand with a forward waving motion with the forfinger pointed down meant come, sit, stay. If you choose that form or training be sure you praise him strongly after each success. I still don't speak as well as most people and all my dog's understand these signals. I had a repair person in my home last and used the signal's and of course the babies did what I wanted instantly(which was ,go out) . The repair person made comment on how well behaved and quick they all were to obey Whatever way you choose, be very patient, show lot's of love and never hit. All that does is cower and confuse. Good luck ..

Start by clicking once and give the dog a small treat. The point of clicker training is to get the dog to accept the clicker as meaning what the words, "Yes, good job", mean to us. Click and give the dog a treat in short sessions once or more a day until your dog looks forward to the click. The next step is to begin to train the dog to do something else. use the click if the dog even tries to do what you ask. Click and give a food reward right away.

Train her without the clicker. Just like people dogs don't all learn the same way.

Clicker training is just one way to train if you have read the book "Don't Shoot The Dog" by Karen Pryor you may already have the knowledge to over come the issue. just try a different method desribed in the book.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/Wxmdm

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

The philosophy at the back of clicker training is amazingly solid, however the clicker fails to function each and every time which you ignore and circulate away it on your pocket. Or greater valuable yet circulate away it sitting on the kitchen counter..

You don't need to actually use a clicker to use the techniques. Just use the word good or yes.

try training her with something else...not every dog is the same..you can use different techniques with different animals...just like kids aren't all the same, you can't raise every single child the same way..because you'll always get a different outcome...you have to sucome to their needs...
