Does anyone know why it's okay for Athiests to make fun of and insult Christians, but then when Christians state our beliefs it's "offensive" to the Athiests? You think we don't find it offensive that you can say all this blasphemous stuff about God? It's that stupid double-standard thing. I say if we aren't allowed to talk about God in a positive way, we shouldn't be able to talk about Him in a negative way.

What I see is that you are bothered that someone else has rights equal to you. You value yourself better than the other person. Reality check! You are no better than that other person. If you have the ability, right and legal justification to say one thing....another HAS TO HAVE the equality to ability, right and legal jusitification to refute it. Otherwise why do we have these laws that protect everyone and not just you?

What I see is that lots of Athiests are bothered that I have rights equal to them. Perfect example: The girl in Nevada who wasn't allowed to talk about Jesus in her speech because they found it 'offensive.' If it's okay for someone to put a crucifix in a cup of urine and call it 'art', shouldn't it be okay for a high school valedictorian to thank the one she believes in? I do not value myself greater than anybody; we're all equal. And I'm not just talking about people on this forum, I'm talking about people in general.

It's not that it's insulting.
It's that you don't care whether you're insulted or not or whether others blaspheme God.
Let God take care of the anger. You just concentrate on love.

Oh come on. Turn the other cheek and all that.

Sure sure. It might be offensivce to you, but surely you are a better person than to let material things like words and coomunication from nonbelievers bother you. You afterall, have God on your side to protect you through everything that you might do.

Think of it like this, Christianity is a majority or people here in America. And with the idea of being a majority, there are certain things you WILL HAVE to get used to. One of which is other people not agreeing with you. If you can not handle a disagreement in the religious community how can you possibly handle a disagreement in the other parts of the world around you?

If you can respect the ideas, concepts and beliefs of others who do not value the same things you do...then you will go far in this world and far in the worlds after. If you stare at these others ideas like the person saying them has 7 heads, then they will not take you seriously in return. A debate is a debate because two or mnore people are debating....not because one or both is hopped up on a dogmatic speech about the degredation of another morals.

What I see is that you are bothered that someone else has rights equal to you. You value yourself better than the other person. Reality check! You are no better than that other person. If you have the ability, right and legal justification to say one thing....another HAS TO HAVE the equality to ability, right and legal jusitification to refute it. It depends on how things are said and phrased and how people are addressed. An Atheist who hassles and flames a Christian for believing in God is being offensive, just as a Christian trying to convert an unwilling Atheist is offensive. But some Atheists and Christians decide to raise a big fuss over the inoffensive stuff, like overhearing someone talk about God, or a polite Atheist stating that they do not believe due to lack of evidence. Therein lies the problem. Don't generalize this to all Atheists. THAT is offensive.

Extreme atheists aren't a very good representative for ALL of us. I could, at the same time, say that all Christians tell me I'm going to hell for not believing in God. But is it true that all Christians tell me that? No. That's just a broad generalization, taken out of context because of a few (emphasis on the word FEW) hardcore Christians who impose their will on others, not just atheists/agnostics. Plus, this is a PUBLIC forum. Debate on a subject is healthy, you're not going to make it stop. If someone disagrees with your beliefs, then by god, you just refute it back. That's what discussion is all about.

Some of us here believe in God in a whole different manner than you do, and maybe concentrating on God being a Loving God instead of a vengeful one that condones your telling everyone else who believes any different then you do that they are going to hell, and will be burned forever...no how loving is that?
I personally don't care what it is that you believe about your God, but I like others find it very offensive when I see "Christians" who profess to have the religion of love and compassion on their side calling everyone else names, and sometimes quite vulgar ones at that.

When atheist insult you and call you a moron for being a christian it's bacause they're scared stiff that you are right. If you are right, it could be a long eternity for them. If they weren't really worried about christianity they wouldn't bother with you. I'm a christian. Islamics think I'm going to hell. That doesn't bother me. Because I don't think Islam is a true revelation from God. If it's not true they can say anything they want about me. Who cares? I will try to reach Islamics with the gospel because I believe God loves Islamics. But I'm not going to be calling them idiots and morons. Their religion doesn't threaten me because I don't think it's from God. Jesus said in Mathew 5:10,11,12:
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
"Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Just make sure you know what you believe and stick to it regardless of the criticism. They say there's only two things you can't get around....death and taxes. I know people who have gotten around taxes so that leaves only one thing....death. We're all going to die and then we'll find out who's wrong. I figure I can afford to be wrong. An atheist can't.

The problem lies
with people that try
to IMPOSE their
beliefs, whichever
they may be on others.
If you have your beliefs,
be safe and content.
There is no need to
try to convince others
to be like one. Each
person has the right
to choose their path
in life without others
telling one what is right
or wrong.

Therein lies the problem.
Just let people be!
Live and let live,
God Bless you, if you so wish!

It is amazing that if we talk about God, we're blasted for "preaching", and "judging", but Atheist don't feel it's "preaching", or "judging" when they state their believes (or non-belief) and label all Christians as being brainwashed and/or stupid. It's also amazing to me that so many of the Atheist on this forum complain of scripture, or religious thoughts, being posted. For crying out loud. This IS the 'Religion and Spirituality' forum.

this is america, we have freedom of speech, you can talk about god in a positive way, they can call you stupid for doing so.
they can talk about god in a negative way, you can call them stupid for doing so.

you are protected from persicution, which means that noone can not give you a job, rent you a house, decline you services rendered to the public etc, because of your religion.
or beliefs, but they are still free to speak negatively about them.

Pagan point of view.

Unfortunately the insults and negative talk occur both ways. That's why people say that in order to have polite conversation you should never talk about religion or politics.
