Before he went on a trip to Sri Lanka a couple of years b4 his death, he vainly declared that Buddhism was not a good religion. There was no gnashing of teeth in response from the Buddhists. Now, await the fire and brimstone that is to come from muslims following pope gregory's brave quote on islam.
Shows the world clearly the great difference between religions, specifically Buddhism and islam doesn't it?

Our teachings prepared us:

"Like a solid rock is not shaken by the wind, so the wise are not moved by praise or blame"

"A victor only breeds hatred, while a defeated man lives in misery, but a man at peace within lives happily, abandoning up ideas of victory and defeat"

"Do not speak harshly to any one; those who are spoken to will answer thee in the same way. Angry speech is painful: blows for blows will touch thee"

"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned"

Colin C: The Vietnam war was a conflict between democratic and communist factions, the origins of that war had nothing to do with Buddhism

I can't speak on behalf Buddhists; I don't really know much about what gets them going ...but I can tell you that Muslims probably don't really care what YOU personally think about what they do in defense of their religion. They would stand up to anyone and anything that attempts to distort the truth about their religion for their own personal gain...including the Pope!

At the same time, I don't agree with people, whatever their religion may be, burning, rioting or inflicting damage to businesses. I think peaceful demonstrations, marches, and boycotting are the way to send a clear message.

I personally think it was a very poor choice of old text to quote on the Pope’s part, especially at a time like this...why would anyone throw more wood into the fire, unless they wish the fire to grow...

I would give the Pope a -2 on that one! Sorry dude :(

I am not a Roman Catholic so therefore would not know what the Pope had to say about anything, let alone evolution!! And I can not be bothered to read the link!! And though the Pope may be the leader of the Catholic Church... He is however only a man, just like any other man: and voted Pope by other men the same... so I would be little interested in his theories anyway!!!! Smile Jesus Loves you!!!

Christians and Buddhists have a lot of bullshit put upon them. Rarely in this day and age would you even see a Christian be violent. ( Except a few nuts that bomb abortion clinics) A few Buddhists may set themselves on fire.

I find it aggrevating that Muslims riot and burn things and WISH MORE ISLAMIC PEOPLE WOULD PUBLICLY DENOUNCE IT. Otherwise I don't know where there heart lies.

George Bush senior didn't care about the atheist vote and he didn't get mine. I didn't want to riot.

There is a lot of things I would change about America but there still no place I would rather live. You notice not too many people are trying to escape from America.

Thank you for letting me rant.

I guess I just don't get it; people put down Christianity/Jesus all the time, and people at this site and in my community get absolutely ticked off about it (as they should). But the Pope (!) puts down the most sacred teacher/Prophet of Islam, and Muslims are supposed to just take it and not react??!!

Tell me: your perceived worst enemy tells you Jesus is a false teacher. Do you smile and walk away, or tell him to ____ off (or worse)?

BTW: how did Vietnamese Buddhists react when Buddhism was outlawed in Vietnam? Ever heard of the Vietnam War?

Thats why people repect christians, buddist, jewish people. I dont think they respect muslims because they threaten you with violence if you just draw a cartoon. I think they need to lighten up a little. I would laugh at a christian joke if it were funny. Im christians and I would light someone on fire for drawing a cartoon and I wouldnt starve my own people in Saudi if I had all that oil.
