What does your contract state?

What does your contract with them say? If you agreed to give two weeks notice or pay for the weeks whether you used them or not, then yes, you are responsible for that money. However, speak to the person in charge and explain the situation. They may be able to let you out of your contract because of the possible neglect/abuse by the caregiver. I doubt they'd actually expect you to pay given the circumstances. If there was no contract, then you are not obligated to do anything. It may be common courtesy to give two weeks notice, but you don't have to. Essentially, this daycare provider works for you! You have the right to "fire" them if they aren't doing a good job. You may also consider reporting this "caregiver" to the state. Sounds like she can't handle kids appropriately and should not being running a daycare. The state has the ability to revoke her license.

Unless you signed a contract at the time of registering your child, you are under NO OBLIGATION to give any notice

Read the fine print in your contract honey, most of the time, there has to be notice given. I'd consult with the daycare, if you are upfront and honest with them, they may waive this fee.

not legally, but be a decent person and give them some notice so that they can fill that empty spot. this will also allow other parents who might be having trouble finding a daycare the relief of finding one with space available.

If you signed any papers stating that( yes) >>> do they really want the hassles ! If there child care is not all that , I'm sure they won't hold you to any obligations , If they insist upon payment , tell them to take u to court /// also if it goes that far insist that u get there files for your lawyer to review ,, can't see it going that far
