No matter what we believe, we're left w/ the fact that something - god, process, whatever - always existed. I'm atheistic but I'm baffled when friends and others don't realize that if we get rid of god, we're left with the same exact problem of the mystery of existence (a friend who is also atheistic had a convo w/ me and thought he had resolved the issues of existence by just referring to scientific cosmologies and evolution; he finally 'got it' when I showed him how the mystery is still unanswered). It gets even more difficult when we think about time and space as just two other things that exist only when the universe itself comes into being. When this universe collapses, time and space ends. Of course, then 'what' is the universe expanding into? And what is meant by 'infinite'? One zen master told us, very matter-of-factly, that if the universe ended, there would still be 'buddha nature' (god, tao, whatever you want to call it). THIS is the thing that has always existed and has no form, no energy, no time, no space -- and the realization that people have with a direct enlightenment experience is that this thing IS everything INCLUDING them. It's a completely non-dualistic and overwhelmingly loving experience and can never be described. So ... the only way to answer any of these questions is to have the experience for ourselves

Have you not been paying attention God is and always was he did not evolve, we evolve, animals evolve, God created all that evolves. And it really doesn't matter if you believe in Him or Not, if He chooses you for a task you will do it, without even knowing you are part of His plan, we all are.
Your question is proof of this, don't you see that? ?God bless you.

The evolution of God can only be answered by conjecture, but it is likely that this notion came out of man's need to explain away the basic questions of his own being, those questions that he could not otherwise comprehend and accept without fear of the unknown.
The reasons for the inception of an idea of God are varied but the basic answer to your query is that God is a convent invention, an idea, out of the mind of man.
You'll find some additional thoughts on this question here: http://www.skepticfiles.org/moretext/godtheor.htm

To " Delta S" "angle of" "Neptune2 b" "Momof4" "teenage g" and others who find themselves so entrenched in the darkness of dogma that they are unwilling to make critical judgments of their own belief:
Please rethink your position. You have the right to know the truth. It is time to rewash your brain with factual data that comes from outside the closed world of organized religion.
Just as religious dogma teaches that God "always was and always will be," a concept that is easy to swallow if you assume it as true, by faith... assume instead that matter and energy - the stuff of the universe - always was and always will be.
Just as the religious have the power of faithful thinking, so does everyone... and, personally, I'm very comfortable with the idea that the universe has always been, perhaps in a variety of forms and shapes, ever evolving, moving from one "big bang" event to the next, but nonetheless, always there all around me and in me as well.
It's an easy theory to believe "by faith" and just as easy to formulate as a reasonable enough conclusion. The difference is: that one can clearly identify matter and energy with his senses... while God is something which requires imagination.
I hope this is helpful to you.

God was the creation by humans because back in primitive days man did not have the scientifical prowess that we have today to explain events and phenomenon that happened, like thunder streaking through the sky or earthquakes, so people used what little brain power they had back then and came up with the idea that gods did everything that they saw happen that was unexplainable.
So God has an origin:Man

the idea of god evolved from ancient superstitions and fears. over many thousands of years, the old fears and superstitions were put into words and eventually were written down as religious fairy tales like the bible

God didn't evolve, God was is and will be
check your fossil records for God's bones, He is not a species but the creator.
But I have the impression that you don't believe in God somehow

A need to have an answer to things (people seem to hate to say "I just don't know!"), a sense of childlike dependence on some greater being, combined with a need for others to manipulate and wield control.

You sure must be desperate for people to answer your questions and can't think of any to ask. you know as well that there is no answer that is acceptable by the majority. Keep thinking you might come up with one some day.
