I may have to stay a week, so I'd like a place that is not too pricey, but clean and air-conditioned. A nice youth hostel would also be okay.
If you have the web address that would be awesome.

Search on Expedia. I got a great deal at the Metropark, which is fairly nice and centrally located 3-4 stars hotel not far from Victoria Park on HK island, for about $70 a night. You cannot go wrong here, and the service is 5 stars, with great helpful staff, from the concierge to the front desk to the business centre. For less than $30, I stay at Tatami Hampton in a closet-size room, clean and air conditioned. When the boss pays, I stay at the former, when on my own the latter is my hotel of choice.

On Hong Kong Island are fewer hotels, but in Kowloon, there is a much wider choice. There is a WMCA there and prices vary from Tsim Cha Tsui back to Mong Kok...There is one hostel on Nathan Road, but can't recall the name...Most taxi drivers at the airport get a kickback from the hotels and will take you to a moderately priced one. Safety is not a problem. I stayed in the Singapore Hotel and it was comfortable but rooms in HK are small compared to other places.

If you are on a serious budget you can go to the ChungKing Mansions in Kowloon. It has A/C - is mostly clean (inside the rooms) and cheap. there are tons of guesthouses in the building. Just walk in and start walking up one of the staircases. You'll find a place sooner or later. I stayed on the 11th floor.

However, it's not for everyone as it is very international and there are a lot of guests from the middle east and african countries.

Hong Kong hostels tend to be in the Kowloon area, search for "mirador mansion" for example (this is a area in Kowloon where there are like 15 hostels in one building alone!) The best resource I know of is twizi.com, they list places to stay in Hong Kong for less than 25 dollars and have a map of where all the hostels are located throughout Hong Kong.

The Mirador Mansions will scare your mum and dad, so which you're top to not take them there. they'd drag you lower back domicile. attempt to make their visit reassuring and mushy, so as that they gained't subject approximately you. mum and dad are patently in touch for his or her childrens and oftentimes do not purely like the belief of them dwelling in discounted lodging. in case you want to be in Kowloon, then the lodge Nikko is a good selection. It overlooks the harbor and is on the component of Hung Hom station. The rooms are super, very cutting-component, and value around HK$1000 in line with night. comparable hotels that are interior of sight, like the Sheraton, cost HK$1500 or greater in line with night.
