I'm surprised they don't have a revised 7th Day Adventist Church that that works around the Sabbath. People are always changing religion to fit their own purposes.

I am not a 7th day adventist nor do I even know what your beliefs are. What I do know is that when God puts a desire in your heart that could change your life for the better and there is something keeping you from that desire then that thing is probably not where you need to be. The word says that He gives you the desires of your heart. If your desire is for music and you can use it to change peoples lives ( the way He has used me) then you should go after it. Your religion does not make you who you are, God does but only if you allow Him to do so. Hope this helps.

I observe the true sabbath as well.
Exodus 20:8-10 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work,
Maybe this is an opportunity from God. Pray about it and keep praying about it. Keep searching in the Bible untill you find an answer.
The sabbath is about God and sacrificing yourself at least one day a week for him. Should you not do this every moment of your life and live for him only. If that is the case then can you attend class for God and not yourself. Can you use this class to progress your music for the glory of God and keep him in mind with everything you do. As long as you are doing Gods work then it sounds like you are still honoring the sabbath. That is just my opinion though.

I know that most people will tell you to do the educational program, but I want to tell you to pray about that. Everyday we have to make choices in life, and sometimes hard ones. I would feel a little guilty inside if I tell you to choose the program, because I know that being out of church can lower someone's walk with Jesus. I've experienced it myself. Pray to God about it.
May God makes you make the right choice!

ok, Jesus did things on the sabboth. The leaders of the temple at the time, told him that this was against the Law of Moses to do anything on the sabboth.
Jesus told them point blank that they had the letter of the law down pat, but they had missed the intent of the law. Basically he was telling them that anyone could and should do Gods will and work on anyday including the sabboth.
So, the question is this, are you planning on using your God given talent for music for Gods work or for your own purposes.
Pray on it and make sure why you want this, and if it is for God then you should do it. If it is for your own worldly desires, then you will know that you must pass on this opportunity and watch for one that Gods sends your way for his will and way.
May God bless you with an answer soon.

I used to date a 7th day Adventist .. But they had long since stopped going to church as their kids grew up ... And after the divorce the ex -husband married the minister's daughter!
I no longer know them but, I wouldn't take things so seriously; Especially after that!

Your program at Berkley isn't forever so I think you should take advantage of that opportunity. Your church will always be there to meet on Saturdays. Continue your church activities after your educational studies

Does not physically attending church for a while mean you are no longer serious or dedicated to your faith? Going to church is just an avenue of expression - it shouldn't be a requirement or a measure of your faith and committment. So stay dedicated and go to school!!

Exodus ch.31 at the end .What is your covenant? In the new testament each of the 10 commandants are there except keep the Sabbath because your not Jewish and in Christ He is your rest.
He who tries to keep part of the law and doesn't keep the whole thing is guilty of it all. What day did the apostles meet .What day did they receive the Holy Spirit. What day did Jesus rise from the dead. O you foolish Galatians!

Regardless if you normally attend church on Saturday, Sunday or some other day you will always have this conflict from time to time. You might wish to discuss this with your pastor. He may have an alternative for you.
