I'm planning onstudying to be a teacher for the deaf or a speach path when I'm in college. If I could go ahead and learn the language it would help me a lot. I already have the basic book. I'm looking for a dictionary that will be easy to learn from, and/or a book on grammar. Thanks.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Sign Language
By Susan Shelly, Jim Schneck - easy to read Look for lots of on-line live action videos, test for finger spelling etc. but avoid S.E.E. signing exact English- it's not popular with the Deaf community, ASL is.
Just a hint...(speech has two ee's and Deaf people like a capital D to respect their culture) Good luck, don't be intimidated and look for a Deaf club in your area, getting with people who sign will help you the most!
