I'm looking for a low (but wide) cabinet (not one of those tall towers) and a matching medicine cabinet for my bathroom. I want it to be relatively sturdy and good quality, but it may not be permanent in our house, so I don't want to spend too much money. I've looked at Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Ikea, but the first two are too expensive and Ikea didn't have the right thing. Any other ideas of where to look? Oh - and the first one we bought, thinking that it would be temporary was from Target and the quality was awful. It was cheap, so we got what we paid for, but I don't want to do that again. So something between Target and Pottery Barn in terms of price.

How about JCPenney's? You can look on their site and they usually have good deals like if you purchase 2 items (same or different depending) you get a discount.

Go to 2nd hand or antique shops! You can find quality furniture at great prices. You may need to refinish or paint the piece to work in your decor but you will be surprised! Many decorators do this to find the perfect item for a space and then repaint or change out the drawer pulls, etc. to make it perfect! You might find a cabinet door at a cabinet shop to fit a small bookcase to use as the medicine cabinet. You can buy any style door to match the cabinet you find. You might could get someone to build the box w/shelves to fit the door very reasonably to make the med cabinet. Try the second hand shops, antiques, yard sales, and newspaper ads for the larger cabinet and you might get lucky and find both because someone else could be remodeling and don't need what you do need! Paint and 2nd hand is a great way to solve many decor problems! Best wishes!

Pottery Barn at their season-end clearance. You may also go to a regular furniture store and look for a sideboard. That would offer great storage, and as long as you have decent ventilation, should last fine in a bathroom.

Go to a furniture store, ask to see a catalog from a company called Coaster. They have some very nice vanities.
