Ok--about a week ago I had really bad pain in my left kidney. It went away in a couple of days. Now- I feel like I definitely have a bladder infection or UTI. I am running fever and feel totally fatigued. Are all these symptoms from a kidney infection?? If so-why dont I have pain in my kidney anymore? What could be going on---I'm worried. I plan on calling my doc Monday.

I see FlaChic has her medical nurse catechism memorized. "Don't diagnose yourself."

I realized years ago this was really dumb. We do have to diagnose ourselves all the time. We would never go to the doctor at all if we didn't diagnose ourselves and figure out we needed to go to the doctor.

Also, if ordinary people could afford to go to the doctor, we would be much more likely to do so. Here in McAllen, an office call costs around $65. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't just take my broom and sweep up the $65.

And, if my wife has a bladder infection, there's lab tests, and then when the expensive antibiotic they prescribe doesn't work, there is another office call at $65, and another expensive antibiotic, and maybe a third office call and another lab test.

It is really easy for a person who gets part of that money to lecture us about not diagnosing ourselves. We on the paying end have a different view of things.

Yes, you need to see a doctor ASAP. An infection may indeed stop hurting as it worsens.

My wife has a bladder infection this week. We live at the border, and we always have antibiotics on hand. So, I looked up on the Web the correct antibiotic and the correct dose, and we saved around, um, $300. If it doesn't go away, as I expect, she will go to the doctor and lie like a fiend.

Doctor's don't handle this stuff as well as they want you to believe. After we retired, she got a bladder infection, and waited till the weekend before she admitted she needed to go, though I had asked her several times to go. The doctor at the clinic did the tests, gave her an antibiotic, and all week it got no better. She had to go back, and more tests, and more antibiotics before they found the right one.

Our neighbor woman, in her 70's, had a bladder infection, and though she went to the doctor right away, messing around with the wrong antibiotics to see if weaker ones would work, she almost died, and needed surgery.

You should see a doctor yesterday. U do not want to take chances with infection, especially when the kidney is involved. Most certainly infection is present for you to have a fever.. A fever shows that your body is working overtime to get rid of the infection.

You don't always have pain in the kidney when you have a bladder infection or UTI.
Running a fever, etc.. with everything else is going to require antibiotics...
I suggest getting treatment tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest because of the risk of sepsis.

No it isn't normal. These are symptoms of a kidney/bladder infection and must not be ignored. Head for the ER. Now.

Sounds like an infection. I know you can't answer back , but does it hurt or sting when u pee ? If so, then it's a bladder infection. But don't worry too much... if you're seeing your dr. on Monday, then you'll be fine. I'm sure antibiotics will take care of it. Don't assume the worst. Just get a lot of rest, take care of yourself and make sure to tell the Dr. ALL of the different symtoms.

It's BAD normal, that means it's kinda normal but that's kinda bad, you know you should better see a doctor or research about it. Trust me, once I had sore eyes for 2 or more weeks and you don't wanna know the rest, it's really gross. Oh and don't worry actually when ever I pray I feel better, and once I prayed that my classmates wouldn't get hurt and it worked! If, you were wondering what happened there was a jar that accidentally fell my classmate was near the jar and HE didn't get hurt, amazing. just for good advice try to call your doctor earlier, this could be serious.

You are diagnosing yourself......are you a doctor??? There is a difference from a kidney infection and a bladder infection. You need to stop asking people on Yahoo who cannot even write the English language to tell you what you need to do! DUH!!! Don't wait until Monday to call your doctor, call him tomorrow. This will teach you not to wait and self-diagnose the next time......DUH!!!

It really could be a kidney infection, I would see a doctor promptly, drink cranberry juice and rest.
