I don't kneel down and pray. I pray while eating, running, cooking, bathing...why would God care if I am on my knees? And prayer is mental telepathy. I personally do the sign of the cross but you can just be like "hey God help me face my boss today" and that's a prayer too. Yeah I know this question wasn't serious but R monster isn't on so I'm sad :-(

I don't know about the kneeling thing. Maybe its a reverence thing. Anyway I have a story that goes along with this point .. um Question right?

There were 2 Priest debating the proper body position for prayer. One was saying face down on the floor stretched out. The other said kneeling. As the debate was raging there was a telephone repair man in the room. After a few minutes he spoke up and said. "The best prayer position is upside down". Both Priest looked shocked. The Phone man continued.. "Yup the best prayer I ever prayed was hanging upside down by a phone line after I fell off the pole."

Don't you love Christian humor?

GOD bless ya anyway.

It's mostly an act of respect or reverence. You don't necessarily have to kneel down. Some people did in the Bible. Even though God knows what we are thinking, there are many references in the Bible that say to proclaim and ask. It's kind of hard to ask someone to open a door or give you something to eat without saying it from your mouth. Even if they aren't God. But speaking with God rather than thinking thoughts directed towards Him are a more active way to participate in a relationship with Him just like you would with a normal person. It's also kind of lazy to say well since God can hear me I don't need to talk. I would say it takes more faith to pray to God outloud and look like a fool to man than to just sit and think expecting God to hear you. Hope that answered your question.

How do you know we kneel down to pray. Do you spy on all christians. Praying is having a conversation, some religions teach us that by kneeling we are humbling ourselves in the face of our creator. It is not such a bad concept we can all do with a little dose of humility now and again, keeps us more human and less judgmental. God Bless. (I wasn't kneeling I swear, and I just prayed for you)

By kneeling down is a sign of respect and wordship, and if had mental telepathy, there weren´t Churches. By kneeling down and praying is a sign that you believe in him and that you know He knows what you are thinking you can´t fool God...

You knell to Pray to show devotion to God. God knows what you are thinking "because" you Pray. Devotional Prayer is to pay honor and thanks to HIM for blessing us.

Can't we use mental telepathy? Very astute of you to equate the reasoning of this to Prayer. In fact it is mental telepathy. God is of the Spirit, thus the only way to contact Him would be via such a median as thought or metal waves spoken during Prayer.

God hears us through our quiet and peaceful thoughts.

So your question is really very valid and thought provoking for anyone with some level of Spiritual sense.

Thanks for the quandary.

I pray in my car, kneeling, standing, sitting and even waiting in line at the store. God can hear me wherever I am. the reason people kneel when they pray is an act of humbling themselves before God.

If you see a movie with your friend, and afterwards you are talking about the movie, do you ask yourself why you are talking to your friend about a movie that you have both just seen? For this situation, you don't even need mental telepathy ... you both saw the movie!!

It must be because you are friends.

It helps to keep the relationship & faith strong. You are making that much more effort to show Him you mean it when you try to be a better person & that you believe in Him. It does help with the faith, I know from experience. It is although, perfectly acceptable to pray silently, in your head. As far as praying at all goes, like I said, it's spending that extra time & effort with God, it's good.
