The best time is generally from mid June to September depending on the species of Salmon you want to target.
The location you are wanting to go will also dictate the time you want to go. There is nothing like fishing the Kenai for the Kings then take a short trip out to the Russian to catch a few Red Salmon.
Each town that is based near a river will have a guides association that can help you in making your decision as well as selecting a guide.
Good luck and tight lines.
P.S. Take some mosquito repelent if you plan on doing a little sight seeing along the rivers and lakes.

I'm from there (native) and for the fishing it would start roughly June (end of) through the end of September, depending on what kind of salmon your talking about. King, Red, Silver, Dolly Varden, etc. Also where you're talking about. Anchorage, Seward, Kenai, Homer, etc. Really best time though is in the beginning of the season, not towards the end, because then the fish are close to dying. Good luck and catch a big one!!!

I would say the best time is in the summer and early fall.
I visited Alaska in July. And the weather was perfect.
Go on the Alaskan website and find out.

late summer.
If you go during ~September, it will be the best time of year for seeing the Northern Lights, but a little late for Salmon season.

July-Aug. Great place to go to but most of the places r closed (nearly inaccessible) during the winter. Seems like u don't need to go fishing there - they'r in abundance everywhere !!!

The Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands are very green and beautiful in late August/early September. Other than that, it can be really nasty weather up there.
Good night, and good luck!
