There are so many different types of meditation for relaxing the body and mind. It seems the fad now to join some meditation or the other. But i see people benfiting from it immensely. I was wondering whether meditation gives a new lifestyle or a new perspective to the same life we are living.

Certainly it is.Yes a little tilt in the level of your consciousness & everything drops off.Looking at the samething from a different angle changes the view in totality.

Looking at a city from the bottom of the mountain(your terrace roof) is totally different from viewing it from the top of the mountain. From the top you get the view of the city as a whole a very clear picture of what is where & how you can reach there.

Meditation is a way of cleaning up your mind (the storehouse of thougts)We clean up our body our surroundings everything physical that we use regularly , then why not our mind ; which we make use of not only when awake but even during dream state in sleep.
Just as a good sleep refreshes the mind even so meditation but it does much more.It is a deep mental cleanser. If sleep is equivalent to external application of medicine then meditation is equivalent to oral intake of medicine which works internally to do wonders.

So never forgo your chance to meditate !

yes it is important. I do it many different ways - depending on how I feel that particular day. Sometimes I will just slowly breathe in G-d to the slow count of five, hold for a slow count of three & then breathe out stress to a slow count of three. I will do this as many times as I have time for - at least three times.

Also I have meditation tapes - guided meditations which are very instructive & mind expanding & helpful. You just sit & listen & follow the instructions.

When I meditate I feel more centred & calm & better able to deal with life's stresses.

Try meditating. You will be glad you did.

The whole aim of meditation is,
1. to calm your mind, and
2. to focus the mind on one thing.

The mind of a normal person is like an uncontrolled monkey jumping from one thought to another. To process all these thoughts a lot of body energy is used. Thus if your mind cease to process thoughts you will be saving a lot of body energy which can be used to cure a lot of ailments in your body. That is why a person who continues to meditate regularly even gets a nice body complexion.

Anapana or concentration on the breath is the best form of meditation. This should be done with compassionate meditation.

Meditation also helps to get over stress and high blood pressure.

You should be able to get some guidance from the following sites,

Meditation is listening, quieting the mind, the soul. Meditation does not provide a new lifestyle. Meditation will enhance your outlook on life and more importantly on your spiritual being. Everyone who meditates discovers what form, music, position, etc. is for them. It's refreshing, inspiring, creative, relaxing, soothing, exciting, and always new.
