I have been kinda shy most of my life and I have change my ways of late. So, the truth is life is short. Find a quite time or space tap him on his shoulder and say " Hi, I just wanted to know if you would like to have lunch, dinner and snack whatever." the worse he can say is no.
because whatever to outcome you will be so proud of yourself.
