I'm retired Dept of Defense and I see and hear what goes on behind the scenes. On camera the people at the DOD say "We will win, We will endure, We are building a new country with freedom". Off camera they say " What a mess we are in, We aren't making headway, We thought this war would be easy as far as wars go, We are going to end up losing like Vietnam". So there you have it people. The troops are dying for nothing. The Insurgents don't plan on winning they will just wear us down until we pull out just like Vietnam. What are all of you fine people here going to do about it?

there's a distinction In Vietnam each and every clarification for going to warfare develop into finished. We stopped the Communist advance in Southeast Asia. In Iraq each and every clarification for going to warfare develop into made up then replaced by employing yet another pretend reason. I positive desire we leave with a touch extra form than Vietnam. That develop right into a multitude.

Only if meat-headed leftist whine so much and aid the propaganda of the terrorist that the will of the people is tested. It's what lost Vietnam, it's the only thing that can lose this war. So go on, write the terrorist bill of rights, expose methods of detecting terrorist plots, and do everything that you can to sell out this country. Your kind always has. Lie, falsify facts, cry about the mistreatment of terrorist, slander our troops, pretend to be a retired DOD worker, do what ever it takes to destroy the country.

If you were in the DOD, it was for Iraq. You have been predicting our loss for months & never support the US or the Military.
We have ousted Saddam, helped a democratic election take place installing a Democratic leadership. We have trained thousands of police, & soldiers to learn to protect themself.
We have accomplished much & will come hone within 18 months
victors. What Iraq does after that will be an Iraq & UN issue.
You are a waste of citizenchip to such a great country.

I agree with a previous answer. Iraq will end up being even worse than Vietnam. What do we do? If we walk away from the people of Iraq, it's sure death for that country. But we can't be their "Mama ' forever. It's time they step up to the plate if they really want freedom. I need to clarify something though.. ... No, I don't think we should pull out of Iraq yet, since we are already there. I just want to see Iraq play a bigger role in defending their freedom. Our troops are not dying for nothing. That makes me mad when I hear those words.

I think the people of America are turning this into a Vietnam. Not the politicians, not the troops.

It's the people that occupy America that have the power to make this into another Vietnam.

Answerman - that shows real brains to vote for a democrat when you don't even know who they are, much less what they stand for. And y'all call US sheep. baaahaaaa

It won't be like Vietnam.
Vietnam finished up being united whereas Iraq will be split into at least three mutually hating sections causing many more years of unrest in the area.

We cannot allow it to become like Vietnam. The troops deserve that we learn from our past mistakes and finish up our mission over there as fast as possible. If you don't know what a gas mask feels like in 100+ degree heat...get a clue.

There's so many similarities between the two so i wouldn't doubt it. Did you notice how the troops were getting treated bad during the begining of the "war" until someone said something? I bet if no one said anything we'd be spitting at them and calling them baby killers.

The only reason we didnt win Nam was becuase Liberal propaganda telling the public that we were loosing..We killed 1 millionion Communist and only lost 60,000 men, never lost a major battle..We were kicking @ss but thats not what the public saw..Politics lost us the war, not the Military..

And we already won Iraq, its just an occupation now..

Guess we will wait two years and vote for change of parties like we did in the sixties and hope a resolution is found. Do not believe it is all for nothing even if we don't achieve our goal. There are changes taking place around the world, not tied to Iraq but more like an influence---We will have to WAIT
