GNC has a supplement called "Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourshair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results.

From my experience with black hair care, it is not the growing of the hair that is the problem, it is keeping the hair from breaking faster than it grows. Keep the ends trimmed, apply relaxer to new growth only, never running it through the ends, and protecting your hair from thermal styling will keep your hair healthy and growing out to the length you desire. Eating a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water also helps, because your hair is fed by the blood of your body.

keep the ends trimmed.. oil your hair. I use African Royale Hot Six Oil. Remember to oil your scalp hair grows from the scalp just putting it through the hair is a waste. Oil the scalp and brush it thru. Protect your hair from over relaxing and excessive heat. I am black and have a beautiful full head of hair. My daughters have long thick beautiful hair.
