If so, what was it like? My husband is graduating in 2 weeks, and I'm not really sure what to expect from it.

Depends of he is enlisted or officer.. The ceremonies are different however for guest they are just spectators in both or your main concern is just trying to pick out your husband from the other graduates.

Is he graduating from Lackland AFB? My sister graduated from there a few years ago. They'll have a ceremony where the different groups...I can't remember what they're called...the squads??? march and the band plays. Then they're dismissed and you can go meet your person. It's a really nice ceremony. You meet at the main center and tehy tell you a little bit about it and then you're bused over to the ceremony site.

it is a nice ceremony that is at the parade grounds at Lackland AFB. You will be able to have base liberty with him after the graduation on Fri. On Sat and Sun you will have a town pass all day to see the sights in San Antonio. Also Thurs night you will be able to spend a few hours with him.

It's a bunch of small men with big egos patting themselves on the back for being masters of the universe.

I totally respect them for doing what they do, don't get me wrong...my husband is a retired soldier...it's just that I think that most people, before 9/11 thought they were going to "play" like they were a soldier, and bailed when they might really have to be called to service.

I hope the service is different from when it was when my hubby was in (he retired 2 years after 9/11)

Air Force Academy? BCT, OCS? Basically you can expect marching platoons and lots of fomality and tradition. Saluting, 21 gun salute, etc. I recomed dressing not formally but like you're going to a job interview. Nicely. I wore a cute vintage dress with high heals and a wide brim hat to my hubby's commisioning. PLEASE do not wear jeans.

boring speeches by some top brass or elected official, followed by military marching band, and your old man will march around in a circle with his new best friends. Military pomp and circumstance - it is BORING!!!!! I'm surprised I lived through it.
