I'm a nurse in a hospital. Medical records which hold a patient's blood results are never discarded.

depends on why it was taken in the first place. most routine bloods are kept for anything up to 7 days. bloods taken to test for HIV and blood born viruses are kept longer.usually 6 months. blood test results are kept forever.
